As some of you may or may not know/realize, yours truly, MusicSlut Matt, is on a mini-vacation (of sorts) in the good ol' Midwestern section of the US of A. In particular, I'm sandwiched between Cincinnati, Ohio & Lexington, Kentucky (yeehaw!). Interestingly and surprisingly enough, there's more to Indiana than just John Mellencamp adoration (although there's ample JM love to go around... twice). See below for some of this weekend's brightest picks for those of you within a 50 mile radius of my holiday spot. NYers, UKers and our usual slutty suspects: just enjoy the MP3s at the bottom of [...]
DIY www.exitclov.com Exit Clov are a band fronted by twins Emily and Susan, which probably makes recording songs a lot easier because they don't have to double the vocals in the mix, they can just sing at the same time. one of the many benefits of having a twin, second only to the ability to switch identities. a friend brought over their newest EP Respond Respond the other day, and i'm getting into it. it's pretty catchy pop, easy to listen [...]

There are a lot of shows happening today and tomorrow. I have talked about some of them already and others have only appeared on the calendar. As a quick reminder, here are your choices... SATURDAY Exit Clov /Jukebox The Ghost ( EP Release)/ Le Loup @ Black Cat This is sure to be a ridiculous show. You have local sweethearts Exit Clov supported [...]

Sixeyes works the opposite of how I think music blogs should be; that is, their posts covering well-established bands are much longer than their posts where they throw a bunch of songs at you. On the other hand, maybe they just don't want to write a lot about bands they're not overly familiar with. I have no such hang-ups, which is why I will attempt to talk about Exit Clov (which I heard from one of Sixeyes' posts where they throw a bunch of songs at you). Just looking at the title, I thought [...]

Think New Order and big soulder pad. onoo ... This can't be happening. But don't get discourage. I am only 1/3 through the pop [...]

Exit Clov Genre: Indie / Pop / Rock From : Washington DC United States Thanks to the excellent blogsite Instrumental Analysis for turning me onto Exit Clov , a five piece band from Washington DC fronted by twin sisters, Emily and Susan Hsu. The band, who's name is a tribute to Samuel Beckett's who have spent the last couple of years building up a fan base [...]
Exit Clov is a five piece band from Washington DC that is fronted by twin sisters, Emily and Susan Hsu. Yes - twin sisters. Brilliant business model, if you ask me - not only will we have two beautiful women front an indie pop band, but we'll have two that have nearly identical voices that can harmonize with each other throughout most of their songs. Why haven't more bands thought of this? I kid, I kid. But Exit Clov is a great band with a fantastic live show. Over the past two years, they have developed one [...]
The cast of the forthcoming film For Your Consideration is on the cover of the December/January issue of Paste Magazine . A sampling of the mag's CD marks the end to the tyranny (and/or "peace and quiet", depending on your viewpoint) of No Music Day. I'm leaving bright and early for my Thanksgiving trip. I will likely be able to post a few songs a day, but there's a chance I won't. So I'll say Happy Thanksgiving now. I hope everyone reading this will be able to spend the day with the people they [...]
Yeah, the rumors are true. Today is my birthday. Thanks to everyone that has wished me well. I was trying to figure out what the hell I wanted to do for my birthday post, then it kind of hit me. I wanted to do a mix of some type. I also have been wanting to do a mix of some of the best local music, so it seemed like a good fit. This mix includes bands from the Baltimore, Washington, and the southcentral Pennsylvania region. This is the whole region that I cover. [...]

Upon the advice of Buddha (good friend and commenter extraordinaire), I headed over to The Mercury Lounge last night to check out DC's finest, Exit Clov , a band I've only heard about but never actually heard. The quintet really blew me away. According to the band's MySpace page , they site the following bands under influences: metric, blondie, pulp, blur, moving units, arcade fire, stars, bartok & le tigre . Somehow, if you can believe it, they sort of sound like all of those [...]

E xit Clov , a four piece from Washington DC are on the last leg of their tour and on their way to Austin. Lucky us, they are stopping in Norman for two shows in as many days. The first is on Wednesday 23August at Opolis with This Woman Is A Python , the second at the OU Union (a FREE show) on Thursday 24 August. I found out about this band from a free promo CD-R [...]
