Explosions In The Sky have announced details of a very special, intimate performance at the Prince Charles Cinema for this November. Taking place on Monday 21 the show will include a screening of the Chris Smith directed comedy documentary 'American Movie' which the band personally chose. The film will start at 6:45pm and the band will perform a 45 minute set from 10:15pm. Tickets for each portion of the night are being sold separately and will be available here from 1pm today.

Last Monday, in an early Christmas present to the editors of this website, #indierocknovels began trending on Twitter. For a few hours people all over the world engaged in clever attempts to synthesize their favorite bands and favorite books, arriving at some portmantastic combinations in the process. Our staff of wordplay addicts submitted more than a few entries of its own, and below we have catalogued our favorite FP creations, along with a brief synopsis of each faux-novel. We hope that we can entertain you as much as we entertain ourselves. The Catcher [...]

But really, what else could we expect from Anthony Gonzalez, synth-pop guru/brains behind M83? I'll tell you what you can expect: an explosively imaginative 22-song double album that will blow your freakin' mind. [...]
The second music video from one of my favorite bands, Explosions in the Sky. This song is from their latest album "Take Care, Take Care, Take Care". i find it very interesting when bands that are able to create such a mental image through their songs. Every person may think about something completely different while listening to these songs. So when the actual artist decides to make a video, it is nice to see how their mental image was. Such a nice video to go along with such a beautiful song. if you haven't listened to [...]

TREASURE ISLAND 2011 REVIEW Treasure Island Music Festival returned for its fifth year to the Bay Area, yet again, bringing an eclectic mix of bands on the rise and established acts. The weather was perfect for the festival, as it stayed warm during the day, and breezy cool during the evening. Much of Treasure Island's usual main attractions were in place; the DIY workshop (making bandanas, beer koozies, and even dream catchers), vendor village for clothes and accessories, Silent Disco, and of course the 60 foot ferris wheel where people can get cozy with friends, intimate [...]

Day Two of Treasure Island Music Festival is always my favorite. The crowd is calmer, less drugged up, and slightly older than the previous day. Plus the music is more akin to my tastes as this is the more "rock oriented" showcase of bands. Again I did not have my DSLR, so make due with my new iPhone 4S pictures and Instagram filters. Thee Oh Sees Best WAKE THE FUCK UP Band – Thee Oh Sees San Francisco's own John Dwyer and crew belted [...]

Boasting past acts like Justice, MGMT, Modest Mouse, and Vampire Weekend, the Treasure Island Music Festival returned to San Francisco this year with a whole new dose of indie jewels. Billed for the weekend? Such critically-acclaimed artists as Cut Copy , Empire of the Sun , and St. Vincent . Those in attendance? Pirates, indians, and aliens alike. Saturday was a time for raucous play and shameless dance parties. Dizzee Rascal , Cut Copy, and Empire of the Sun led the way, attracting the weekend's highest volume of festival-goers. Chromeo 's [...]
It was just one of those epic weekends here in San Francisco, and The Owl Mag got a bird's eye view.

Few things are better than lounging on a blanket in park, drenched in sun and with your friends. Very few things. One of those rare instances would be seeing The Antlers , St. Vincent, Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks , Beach House and Explosions In The Sky while lounging on a blanket in the park, drenched in sun and with your friends. Treasure Island on Sunday was more than expected. It would be trivial to try and quantitate the difference in quality between any of the acts mentioned above; they all are worthy of roses and [...]
With their remix EP Keys and Codes due next month, Death Cab For Cutie stopped by the scenic Santa Barbara Bowl as their tour in support of Codes and Keys winds down. Explosions In The Sky were the perfect openers letting their expansive assault of guitars fill the Bowl. Scope the DCFC setlist after the jump. Read More...

Frank Yang I'm sure they didn't intend to be away for so long - it wasn't their fault that the 2009 edition of the Toronto Islands show for which they were the undercard was cancelled - but as of Friday night's long-awaited show at the Sound Academy., it had been over four years since Explosions In The Sky last played Toronto and you could round up closer to five if you're talking headlining shows. A long time for any active, touring band but an eternity for an act whose fanbase grew [...]
