Boy, this one was a long time coming. Either you are all quite patient or you didn't notice. Either way I have been busy as heck which just means that all the tracks I had compiled got whittled down to just the gems. Rock. As we shared with you back in March, the VIVID Live 2011 at The Sydney Opera House, curated by Modular Records, announced today that The Cure will be appearing onstage with a uniquely evolving line-up of band members past and present, The Cure “Reflections” will see the band perform their first three albums live, in their entirety, in an extraordinary concert experience exclusively for Vivid LIVE on May 31 and June 1. Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig recorded a version of Paul Simon's "Papa Hobo" for the upcoming film Ceremony . He doesn't much mess with the melody and thus retains the original's small, hometown-stroll feel. His vocals don't have quite the same weary bite of Simon's original, but hearing Ezra properly cover Paul is just satisfying in the same way as hearing The Tallest Man on Earth officially cover Bob would be. Also, let me just add that I am really enjoying this post-90s resurgance of our favorite bands recording original music for films [...]

Ezra Koenig - Papa Hobo (Paul Simon Cover) Ezra Koenig, vocalista do Vampire Weekend, está na trilha sonora do filme Ceremony, um drama estrelado por Uma Thurman e Michael Angarano. Michael é conhecido por Lords of Dogtown e O Reino Proibido. A música, Papa Hobo é uma cover de Paul Simon de 1972, de seu segundo disco solo. Paul Simon's "Papa Hobo" Recording capabilities aside, the differences between Paul Simon's original and Ezra Koenig's cover of "Papa Hobo" are almost invisible. The Vampire Weekend lead vocalist stays true to the sound, pitch and emotional tone so accurately that you'd think Simon hopped a time machine to take advantage of our more sophisticated studios. Course, you can still tell the two singers apart from one another, especially if you're a diehard, but for those who are more ignorant, they probably would say they were [...]

Link: http://pitchfork.com/news/4213 6-listen-ezra-koenig-covers-pa ul-simon/ [MP3] Ezra Koenig Papa Hobo This is an MP3 by Ezra Koenig for some soundtrack. I guess this means he 'went solo' and left Vampire Weekend behind. The MP3 is a cover of a Paul Simon song, but I would probably never listen 2 it bc it is all old, and every1 knows that Paul Simon was a 'streamer' and Garfunkel was 'pretty alt.' [...]

Ezra Koenig recently covered Paul Simon 's "Papa Hobo" for the new movie Ceremony' s soundtrack. The song comes from Paul's 1972 self-titled debut album. Ceremony is a Max Winkler

He guests along some big names, with tracks from Pete Townsend, Ringo Starr and Van Dyke Parks also included. The majority of the score has been devised by Eric D.Johnson of Sub Pop band Fruit Bats . Ezra Koenig, the Columbia graduate / English major at the helm of Vampire Weekend ( the film as well as the band), recently donated a track to the soundtrack of the 2010 film Ceremony starring Uma Thurman. Fittingly, due to the nature of his band's rather obvious influences and stylistic cues, the song was a cover of Paul Simon's "Papa Hobo", originally released on Simon's 1972 self-titled debut LP (his first solo record sans Garfunkel, with whom he split two years prior). Trading Vampire Weekend's afro-pop stylings for simple acoustic guitar strumming, [...]
As if comparing Vampire Weekend to the legendary Paul Simon wasn't already easy enough, Vampy Weeks frontman Ezra Koenig goes and covers the iconic singer-songwriter's "Papa Hobo" off his 1972 effort, Paul Simon . The track is a part of the soundtrack to the Uma Thurman-featuring, Max Winkler-directed film, Ceremony , in which a young man interrupts the wedding ceremony of an older woman (here's to you , Mrs. Robinson). The soundtrack was curated by Fruit Bats' Eric Johnson and also includes contributions from Ringo Starr, Pete Townshend, and Van Dyke Parks. [...]
