I've been thinking about Memphis all day. In light of MLK Day. In light of the excellent Joe Brouwer poem " Lines in Memphis, Tennessee ." In light of Martin Luther King Jr's assassination on April 4, 1968 in Memphis. In light of his speech the day prior where he gloried in having lived through a previous stabbing and a little girl's letter professing happiness that he didn't sneeze when even a sneeze would have killed him. In light of King's joy at having lived to having seen the sit-ins, the Bill, the marches, the [...]
At last year's SXSW music fest, John McCauley of Deer Tick, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes and Matt Vasquez of Delta Spirit debuted their new roots-rock supergroup, which at the time was dubbed MG&V after their collective last names. After a busy 2010 for the members' full time bands, and a name change to Middle Brother , the act has announced that not only will their long awaited self-titled debut finally come out on March 1, but that they will hit the road for a 13-date March tour that will also include select dates where both [...]

LessThan3: One of the reasons people tend to love dance music is because of how expressive the music can be without any lyrics or vocals. What is the message of your music and of hardstyle in general? Showtek: We always try to put a catchy element in our music, which means if you can put on a tough face and bang your head, whistle on the melody or sing along to the lyrics, then the track has hit potential! Showtek is famous because of the lyrics and melodies. for example FTS -we believe [...]
Well, the holiday is just about over, and people will soon be getting back to their usual schedules. As you may know, we skipped the S-25 Mix last Sunday to present New Indie Christmas Songs. The Rolling Stones have inspired approximately 40 billion words of effusive praise, irrational hate, and all points in-between. Yet, it's astonishing how few of those words actually address how their various musical parts have fit together, especially at their peak. Voyeuristic tales of drug abuse, debauched sex, satanism (real or imagined), more drug abuse, intraband feuding, more debauched sex, record sales, lawyers, court appearances, and wanton destruction of animate and inanimate objects ... some of whom were named Brian Jones ... you will find no shortage of material on these marginally interesting topics. [...]

Faces: Ooh La La [ purchase ] Poor old Granddad, I laughed at all his words... Confession time: the first time I heard this song, I thought it was a Rod Stewart cover. And I suppose that's true, in an odd sort of way, though not in the way I meant it. Because 25 years before Rod Stewart turned this song into a cheesy pop hit, his band Faces recorded it as the title track to their last album. [...]
The new, acoustic versions of Black Crowes songs on Croweology sum up the band's history.

This is a small collection of studio session and rehearsal material from The Faces during the recording of Ohh La La at some point between September 1972 and January 1973. There is always a story behind the recording of an album and in this case we are quoting wikipedia ( so excuse any errors) - With his career in the stratosphere due to successes from his solo albums, Rod Stewart became increasingly distanced from his band mates, who were by the time of the album's recording little more than his backing group in [...]
When Ronnie Wood really feels like playing, good things happen.
Rising out of some kind of time-travelling mashup between Summer 1986 and Spring 2011, Electric Youth are two parts Electric, two parts Youth, and roughly 17 parts supreme. The Toronto (Torontonian?) duo comprises Bronwyn and Austin and are named after a Debbie Gibson album (try searching for Electric Youth and you'll get a poop-ton of DG stuff) and even though said influence was released in 1989, it's still less 80s sounding than these guys. The couple's few songs that are making the rounds are all kinds of nostalgic and infectious, as if they watched every 80s movie-montage that they could [...]

A founding member of Small Faces with Kenny Jones and Steve Marriott in 1965 (Ian McLagan joined later), Lane played bass for one of the most under-rated Brit bands of the '60s. Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood came on board in 1969 and the renamed Faces achieved commercial success.
