Factums - Flowers Out soon on Sacred Bones Factums - "Split Screen"

Still plenty of cold, gritty ambling on this second Sacred Bones release for Factums but this time the throw in a few hot tipped, fuzz encrusted shots at rock as well. Rock of the 'n Roll variety, must be the influence of The Intelligence boys rubbing off on them. Don't go thinking the Factums have gone soft on us now, though. Flowers is just as scathingly antiseptic as any of their releases, cut throughout with industrial noise and dour ambience to keep you from smelling those flowers they seem to be talking about in the title. Another [...]
Factums - Anathema Factums - Fear of Terminology I'm pretty sure the future is all about space because it was meant to be about hoverboards and I feel like we should have these buy now. Did you know that some people already go on holiday in space? There are bird sounds, forests, tranmissions from earth, the trickle of a mountain stream and there's junk, rust, space debris, rain, televisions and computer monitors, but you have to be pretty rich. The past is there too in the form of [...]

Factums have popped up on some pretty notable labels, hitting up releases for Killshaman, Siltbreeze, Pollymaggoo and now they've wrestled in nicely among the ranks at Sacred Bones. With their dank, rattled take on the skeletal remains of post-punk it's no surprise that they have run-ins/associations/common members with A Frames and The Intelligence. Stark rhythmic jitters and gag muffled vocals fall alongside some strangled guitars and syncopated krautisms. Hypnotic and ritualistic, the band mumble ceremonial birth rites for lost races above static trance-fuzzed communications with the dead. This is a dark record and like most of what I've experienced with [...]

Last time we heard, our heroes were lost in the limbo separating the barren desert scoured by the mercilless eye of God from the land of ghosts where a sepia thistle blooms for every sin you have committed, they advanced holding hands, oblivious to the warnings of tongue-speaking coyotes and vultures cruising the sky like gaunt walkirias ready to feast of the carrion of those who dare, their adventures in this strange land shall one day be told, but not now, what we know is they came out on the other side, transformed by their underwordly transit, singing a hymn [...]
