Recently we featured High Hopes , a side project for the Fair Ohs ' drummer Joe, and now it's time for singer/guitarist Eddy's own hobby, Les Pharaons . Including the free Amandine ( mp3 ), the EP, Opio , features a quartet of short, sexy songs, each sung in French and each a lusty, heady timeport back to the carefree Gallic '60s music. This is the s0-called 'YeYe' style: psychedelic, fun-in-the-sun type stuff from those days of yore. Fans of Fair Ohs' previous Bardot cover should be first in line.

Fair Ohs drummer Joe Ryan decides to embark on second side-project as High Hopes ; does so; first result is fuzzed-out, impossibly chill lounge soul; world rejoices. A five-song EP is out now on Suplex . [youtube J4-fZf32oNs

East London's Fair Ohs are getting a nice bit of buzz for a couple of reasons. 1. They are releasing their new single, "Salt Flats" on flexi-postcard that could only be played on a turntable. Quite intersting, if you ask me. 2. Their music is damn good. Going the jangly garage rock vibe, the short tune has a lot more of an atmospheric sound than most songs you would hear out of this genre, and that has to be applauded. You can get this little contraption for $6 on their label's [...]

While the Pharaohs may have dwelt amidst and been ceremoniously embalmed within pyramids planted atop Ancient Egyptian sands, Fair Ohs seem set to build upon Salt Flats, the east London trio's latest single this week released via X-Ray Recordings . Continuing to emulate West African funk while channeling it potently through crackling, nostalgia-flecked psychedelia à la The Cryan Shames, the result is an inebriating and more significantly exhilarating brew of lo-fi jubilation, skin-splitting bongo backdrop and fleeting fretboard trickery from lead vocalist Eddy Frankel. Reminiscent of Bos Angeles were they intent on creating the delectable rather than [...]

Tweet Listen to Fair Ohs ' new song "Salt Flats" below. In September we introduced to one of our favourite new Ones To Watch bands of last year, Fair Ohs , straight outta East London. Their gyratin' take on Garage-Rock looked us square in the eyes and we saw its soul, all colourful and rabid with emotion . Today they released their latest single, [...]

For their next single, East London group Fair Ohs will utilize the relatively underused format of the flexi-postcard. The postcard, which can be played as a record, will also include a digital version of the single 'Salts Flats,' as well as an exclusive b-side, 'Gold Hill.' You can order a copy today via X-Ray Recordings , and listen to 'Salt Flats' below.

I don't mean to be a prude when I do this, but we all had favourite albums last year, you can't deny that, and I had too many. In fact, so many that I loved that it was difficult to decide between them all, and I had been reading endless 'trendy choice' end-of-year lists before the year had even gone out. So I thought I might deliver some kind of personal justice by posting one that people can sneer at all they want, but might actually pick out something they overlooked and think "Hey, I might actually try that now, [...]

Please note that this is called the Remmcast, rather than the Ariyemcast, for little better reason than that it sounds better. R.E.M. split up this week, which is sort of like the death of an elderly relative: you know it's sad, and you mourn the loss, but they hadn't been themselves for a while, everyone knew it was probably coming, and maybe it's for the best after all. Due to not really wanting to pontificate too much, I haven't really produced what could be in any way described as a 'career retrospective' or anything, nor have [...]

As you've probably noticed, I haven't exactly been overflowing with new music this week. A large amount of this is down to the fact that it's been the sort of week which has been constantly disrupted, meaning I've had almost no time to sit down and properly digest anything. I have noticed an unusual number of people pushing their mewling progeny around the streets of Edinburgh with the buggy in one hand and their mobile phones in the other, squawking away like over-excited fucking geese. I wonder if there has been a recent rise of babies with phone-related [...]

![[Listen/Download] – New Songs By Fair Ohs – "My Spit" & "I'm A Woman, I'm Your Wife"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3696799_lg.jpg)
Tweet The Fair Ohs stole my heart with their punk-infused pop sound, in which I claimed their sound would "rock your face off." Well, brace yourself because I think their new track, "My Spit" literally did rock my face off. If you were expecting for light, poppy, punk tunes, I'm sorry to disappoint - their upcoming album, "Pacific Rim" is a stripped down, garage-punk, jam-fest. While I was never that into the hardcore punk music, I appreciated what it did for music [...]

Let's get the mosh pit started! It's been awhile since a fair balance of punk beats and engaging song formulation has come to together to make a proper homage to the pioneers of safety pins and plaid, but Fair Ohs does a damn good job of packaging all of that into one minute and 25 seconds. "My Spit" is from before they put the 'post' before their 'punk', and you can own it now and on their album Pacific Rim due September 26. (via Stereogum )
UK post punk outfit Fair Ohs put out their strong debut LP Everything Is Dancing earlier this year, but their upcoming release Pacific Rim hauls in some formative early songs from the band's more hardcore-driven past. Here's 7" closer "My Spit," a rollicking frenzy of a garage jam that sums up those days pretty well. Read More...

Today's song is "Baldessari" by New Fair Ohs . This song is off their debut album Everything Is Dancing . The album is influenced by West African funk, k602s Psycheldic Rock, Eritrean Guayla music and a whole heap of Fleetwood Mac. The record was released on Lefse July 26th, and July 7th on the bands own Honey High Records in the UK. Listen below and for more information on New Fair Ohs check out their MySpace , Facebook , and Twitter pages. Pre-order the album here . [...]
In 'You've Got Teeth' the underlying punk tendencies of Fair Ohs is brought firmly to the foreground. The track is a bonus digital track from their forthcoming record Pacific Rim: Early Recordings , which, as the title suggests, is an album full of their earlier material. Combine this with their fantastic debut album, Everything Is Dancing , 2011 really has been a good year for these guys. You can pick this up on September 26th when it's released via Tough Love records.
