My nine-year old son has started a band with three of his fourth grade buddies called The Fanatical Food Fighters. As far as I can tell this mostly means the four of them get together at recess and make jokes and sing. Song titles include "I'm Weird Guy Of The Year," and "Sugar Ruuuuuush!" This is what happens when schools ban dodgeball.

Boy + Kite ("Boy Plus Kite") was formed in 2009 in an an unlikely place - a hot tub. Back then, Boy + Kite 's Darvin Jones and Beth Puorro would often sneak into a spa on the outskirts of Austin to swim and pretend to be members of the bourgeoisie. With a debut album waiting in the wings, and the studio duo now a full-fledged live foursome, Boy + Kite is ready to hit the ground running. "I feel like we have recorded a very solid first album and produced it as well [...]

"Austin, Texas band Moonlight Towers (taking its name from the tall vintage streetlights that illuminate Austin's nights) is a genuine band that does what comes naturally: writing, recording and playing real rock n' roll (with a hearty pop kick!) Such superlatives become viscerally tangible the moment the band steamrolls into "Heat Lightning," the disc's aptly named lead track. The timeless potency of two mighty guitars and muscular bass and drums bring [...]

The title track from L.A. band Wake Up Lucid's new EP to be released Feb 15th. L.A.'s Wake Up Lucid started as a vision of singer/guitarist Ryan Baca's father, who had passed years earlier.
