Eye Emma Jedi 's "Places" is the sort of guitar-driven, adrenaline-pumping indie rock we don't nearly get enough of these days. Hailing from Norway, these Scandinavian chaps spent 100 days outside the village of Marbella on the Southern coast of Spain recording their debut album. "Places" is our first taste of said LP and reminds us of Fang Island in all the right ways. Fun fact: Dan Croll used to play with these guys. So chew on that. Stream the track below. As mentioned , Callers are about to start a March residency at Williamsburg venue Union Pool and we now know the rest bills for each show. The kickoff show on March 7 features Olga Bell and TEEN ; the March 14th show is with Fang Island ; and on March 21 it's Here We Go Magic's Luke Temple and still-to-be-revealed "special guests." Brooklyn/Providence crew Callers released their third album, Reviver , last year via Partisan. Originally a collaboration between Sara Lucas and Ryan Seaton, Callers are now a four-piece band and if you haven't heard the new album, you can stream it below via Spotify. Though I'm the sort of guy that likes his Primus in normal 2-D, this Sasquatch 2013 lineup is packed with some serious good energy. You've got The Postal Service reuniting (and maybe Ben Gibbard runs in to Danny Brown randomly and he's all like "You wanna collab?" Because, like that seems like something that would happen nowadays) and indie megas like Sigur Ros, Vampire Weekend, The XX, and Arctic Monkeys. And everyone is allowed to smoke pot. Like legally. Every Memorial Day, I think about a flying to Portland and making the drive to Washington for Sasquatch. I haven't been this "jazzed" about a festival lineup in quite some time due to the amount of music festivals making the rounds. Our year end lists are wrapping up at this point, but we wouldn't be a legitimate music site without a list of the top songs from 2012. Personally, I feel like this list is a thousand times more difficult to compose than an albums list because we're dealing with close to 400-500 songs in the running. Oldie but a goodie here from Fang Island that popped up on my playlist a month or two ago and has been on a steady dose of repeat for quite a while now and doesn't appear to be leaving anytime soon.
