Oh hell yes. Fang Island have debuted a brand new track called, “Asunder”. This is as loud as we want and expect from the Brooklyn party trio. Every time I hear a track of theirs, I just want to go crazy on the top of a mountain, playing air guitar to their anthemic and infectious riffs. The track, which is wonderful in it’s own rambunctious way, is almost as good as “Daisy”, which is one of my favorite songs ever. I CAN’T WAIT for the band’s sophomore record, Major. It will be out July 24th through Sargent House.

Here are a few tracks I discovered in the inbox whilst traveling to the wonderful island of Ocracoke today: California Wives - "Marianne" This four-piece indie rock outfit recently signed with Vagrant Records. They will be releasing their debut LP soon. For now, they are offering a free download of the track, "Marianne." I have to agree with the observation that this track sounds like something from a John Hughes track. Their Chicago roots might have something to do with that. - Fang Island - "Asunder" [...]

From their sophomore album 'Major', due out July 24th on Sargent House. Greatness.

Take some layered dueling guitars, a kick-you-in-the-ears drummer, harmonious vocals and chants that collude together seamlessly. Then throw in a few jingling synths, shameless solos and cool crashing crescendos. What you get is loud and life-affirming, and it sounds like Fang Island. The post-rock crew from Brooklyn (via Rhode Island) are must-see live band, and their 2010 self-titled debut was a euphoric summer soundtrack that still gets played whenever the sun's out. Now, with the release of a new LP looming, they have let loose their first song to accompany the warming weather. As infectous as ever, "Asunder" should put [...]

Well it looks like we have officially hit hump day for this week and there's probably a pretty good chance that most of us aren't doing the type of humping that we wish we were at this moment in time. Luckily for us Fang Island felt this fine hump day was the perfect time to release their blazingly fast new single "Asunder" to help us survive the shittiest of all days of the week. That's right, I'm calling you out Wednesday. Nobody likes you and all you do is just piss people off. Nothing good has [...]

As previously reported , Rhode Island math-rock trio Fang Island will return with their sophomore LP, Major , on July 24th via Sargent House. With an aim to create an effort of non-stop, mega-sized hooks, the band is certainly off to a proper start with the album's first song, "Asunder". It's a majestic bit of prog rock, with grandiose guitars that dart up and down and anthemic vocals that swell with emotion without losing their Zen-like balance. And though the track sort of falters without ever reaching an apex, that one-two punch is enough to [...]

The Brooklyn party-rock trio Fang Island are about to return with their new album Major , the follow-up to their self-titled 2010 breakout. Fang Island have unveiled the first track from their forthcoming new album, Major , which is released on July 24th via Sargent House. If you were worried that the gap between their debut album and their new album would lead to change in direction, fear not; this is the Fang Island we love. Listen to 'Asunder' and prepare to kick the living crap out of the air around you. 1. [...]

Fang Island is marvelously loud. The songs on their 2010 debut, self-titled album are, by their own accord, "everyone high-fiving everyone." Songs built around hook after hook, that don't shy away from slamming guitar parts and complicated arrangements. Call it metal with a dose of indie-rock, or indie-rock with a hint of metal if you must, but what it boils down to is great modern rock and roll. "The Illinois" is a bombastic, non-stop ear assault of bright, layered guitars befitting of a fast paced video game. Breaks in the action come in the form of anthemic singing and chanting, [...]

Liz Flyntz If we can regard Beach House literally as their namesake, which is to say as a holiday getaway, a reliably stolid place to escape from the real world, then the amount of adoration they've gotten for largely sticking to their skeletal formula through four albums now is understandable. Their fans don't want them to reinvent themselves with each outing; they want that comforting blanket of Victoria Legrand's narcoleptic vocals and whirring keyboard interwoven with Alex Scally's languid slide guitar, and across their first two records - their 2006 self-titled debut and [...]
Due out July 24th on Sargent House.
Over the past couple years, we've made no bones about the fact that we're big fans of Fang Island's unique major key approach to anthemic progressive rock. Hence, the news of a new album dropping on July 24th came as a welcome surprise yesterday. We'll certainly follow up with more coverage on this release in the near future, but in the meantime check out this short teaser video for the album. As usual, the YouTube comments section says it best, "I have to prepare my hands for all of the High Fives that will soon be happening."

Perpetually enthusiastic indie rock trio Fang Island are set to follow up their self-titled debut with Major on July 24th via Sargent House. Over 11 tracks, the band aims to go all-in with their confident exuberance, focusing on crafting dynamic pop songs. "We wanted to be the band that's nothing but your favorite hooks back to back," says guitarist/vocalist Jason Bartell. Regarding the record's title, the band's 1,000 bullet point explanation includes these gems: "It sounds like a constellation," "Because we are on an independent label" (read: irony), "Steely Dan's "Any Major [...]
