Arriving on Flickr a few hours ago was a slew of scans from Propaganda , which is described as a "Goth fanzine". I've not come across it before, and it looks like I missed out. Reality has been preventing me from exploring a lot of the new music that the Ripple editors have been sending my way lately. There's a ton of cool stuff awaiting my judgement and I don't want to form opinions based on half-assed listening sessions. Something that has really caught 100% of my attention this week is the brand new issue of the metal fanzine Chips & Beer . One of those tracks that I missed but I wanted to come back and share it since we've never really prided ourselves on firsties. Here we are a 4 days into Summer and this track by Londoners Fanzine is a bit more relevant. The 73 is sold out unfortunately but that won't stop you from enjoying the carefree vocals, cherubic harmonies and guitar tones.

Fanzine deliver sunshine pop wearing its indie heart on its sleeve.  With the sound of "L.A." heavily bleached in 902s American guitar goodness I was surprised to find out the fourpiece hailed from no further than London.  there is more than a subtle hint of Pavement thrown in the mix that has had me listening on repeat [...]

With a sound as faded as Best Coast and a dash of lo-fi grunge (think Real Estate), Fanzine provide the perfect combo of a slightly sunny and slightly trippy backdrop for their debut.

Fresh from signing to Best Fit Recordings , The Line Of Best Fit's label de seemingly chaque jour since it was recently established, Fanzine are just starting to pen some serious chapters into their still short history. And although this particular interview may never make the contents page, lead vocalist Jock's eloquence in these As to the Qs hurled his way suggests they'll be able to substantiate the claims to greatness insinuated by latest single L.A. long beyond its release this coming Monday... • Fanzine - Houses Fall

Fanzine have lost the scuzz for the b-side to their forthcoming single - the second release on Best Fit Recordings. If 'LA' was Dinosaur Junior, then 'Houses Fall' is Belle and Sebastian, all jangly strumming and sugar-sweet vocals. 'LA' / 'Houses Fall' is out on 30 April , and is worth a fiver for the artwork alone.
