Earlier this year, Against Me! was forced to cancel their U.S. tour after failing to find a suitable replacement drummer for Max Weinberg's son . Now, long time bassist Andrew Seward has announced his departure from the band. In a post on the band's official site , Seward wrote, "No drama here. I reached a point where I need to focus on other things. Respect to Laura and James. The last 10 years ruled." In the same post, frontwoman Laura Jane Grace expressed her gratitude toward Seward for his years [...]

My Chemical Romance' s famous last words proved to be the following: "Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We've gotten to go places we never knew we would. We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure." [...]
A little bit of raw emotion for you indie lovers. This leading track from Farewell J.R shows promise — mostly because it is so darn epic. Escalating into a wall of sound starting from wandering and spaced-out croons, all five minutes and four seconds of "Night Wolves" is a journey in and of itself. Count down the days until March 11th when this track is released along with its companion tracks on Farewell J.R's debut EP, Health (via Talking Shop Records ). Whew, chills and shivers pulse with every listen...

Words by Tom Johnson Farewell JR might be the collective name for the musical musings of Nick Rayner but there is very little of the classic 'singer-songwriter' about Health, his debut EP. Full-bodied arrangements are present throughout the twenty-five minutes, giving the record a dense and rich backdrop for his folk-styled vocals to sit upon. As vocals go, Rayner's are a rather wonderful tool. Sounding something like a 3am drunken plea to the moon, his gravelly drawl proves to be the records heartbeat as it clambers almost clumsily over the rest of the instrumentation. [...]

Rather appropriately, given the song title, the opening bars of this wondrous track sound like someone (or some thing), head tipped back, gently howling into the night sky. The sense of trepidation doesn't hang around too long though as electric guitars, rolling percussion and some gruff vocal purrs enter the equation and guide the track towards a powerful finale, that is both strangely addictive and intoxicating. Night Wolves is the first track to be released from Farewell J.R's forthcoming Health EP, which is set for release on limited 123 on March [...]

Taken from his forthcoming Health EP due out March 11th 2013, Farewell J.R takes us on a journey through the intricate lands of sheer bewitchment. Night Wolves ' intimate appeal soon blossoms in to an almighty spellbinding blast of power. As the track picks up momentum you can truly feel its shift in energy through the layers of somewhat violent percussive crashes and vocals that document a heartfelt, emotional trait. Think Bon Iver's Wolves (Act I and II) meets The National. Download the single above for free while you still can. [...]

Bixler-Zavala announced his departure in a lengthy statement posted on Twitter , writing, "I can't sit here and pretend any more. I no longer am a member of Mars Volta." Bixler-Zavala did not give a specific reason for his decision, but expressed frustration toward bandmate Omar Rodríguez-López for not wanting to tour behind their latest album, Noctourniquet . Farewell Jr, the work of Cambridge resident Nick Rayner, is the latest in a line of rootsy, salt-of-the-earth UK troubadours that seem to have one foot in echoey landscapes of Bon Iver and an eye on the misty horizon. Set to release his debut EP, Health , in March, having recorded the sets six songs on the other side of the world in Australia, Rayner has also released 'Night Wolves' - the first glimpse of Health . It's a slow-burning gem, rumbling along on desolate electric guitar and bursts of orchestral fireworks. [...]

Brooklyn alternative hip-hop outfit Das Racist have called it quits. As Pitchfork points out , the trio were originally slated to perform at Munich's On3 Festival over the weekend, but that didn't end up happening. Alright, so I'm going to do some Das Racist songs, but Das Racist is breaking up and we're not a band anymore." In response, Kool A.D. confirmed the news on his Twitter account this evening, writing: "for the record [...]

Manchester heavy-pop outfit WU LYF have apparently called it quits. Last night, the band dropped a new song on YouTube entitled "T R I U M P H", alongside what appeared to be farewell letters from each band member. "WU LYF is dead to me," wrote frontman Ellery James Roberts. "The sincerity of 'Go tell fire' was lost in the bull shit of maintaining face in the world we live. Clap your hands chimp everybody's watching. A year spent losing faith; Innocence lost wide eyes see clear the dark." Another, unidentified band member wrote, "We [...]
