UK indie rockers Yuck are gearing up for a big comeback in 2013, but they're doing so without frontman Daniel Blumberg. A little bit of raw emotion for you indie lovers. This leading track from Farewell J.R shows promise — mostly because it is so darn epic. Escalating into a wall of sound starting from wandering and spaced-out croons, all five minutes and four seconds of "Night Wolves" is a journey in and of itself. Count down the days until March 11th when this track is released along with its companion tracks on Farewell J.R's debut EP,  Health (via Talking Shop Records ). Words by Tom Johnson Farewell JR might be the collective name for the musical musings of Nick Rayner but there is very little of the classic 'singer-songwriter' about Health, his debut EP. Full-bodied arrangements are present throughout the twenty-five minutes, giving the record a dense and rich backdrop for his folk-styled vocals to sit upon. As vocals go, Rayner's are a rather wonderful tool. Sounding something like a 3am drunken plea to the moon, his gravelly drawl proves to be the records heartbeat as it clambers almost clumsily over the rest of the instrumentation. [...]

Rather appropriately, given the song title, the opening bars of this wondrous track sound like someone (or some thing), head tipped back, gently howling into the night sky. The sense of trepidation doesn't hang around too long though as electric guitars, rolling percussion and some gruff vocal purrs enter the equation and guide the track towards a powerful finale, that is both strangely addictive and intoxicating. Frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala has left The Mars Volta , effectively putting an end to the band. Bixler-Zavala announced his departure in a lengthy statement posted on Twitter , writing, "I can't sit here and pretend any more. I no longer am a member of Mars Volta." Bixler-Zavala did not give a specific reason for his decision, but expressed frustration toward bandmate Omar Rodríguez-López for not wanting to tour behind their latest album, Noctourniquet . Cleveland electronic outfit Emeralds have gone to Splitsville. Two weeks after guitarist Mark McGuire left , now too has multi-instrumentalist Steve Hauschildt . The founding member announced the news on his personal Twitter account earlier this morning, writing "After much thought, I too have decided to leave Emeralds for personal reasons. The band is now over and all tour dates are cancelled. It’s been a wild ride, I’ve made countless friends all over the world and have so many memories– thank you all so much." Farewell Jr, the work of Cambridge resident Nick Rayner, is the latest in a line of rootsy, salt-of-the-earth UK troubadours that seem to have one foot in echoey landscapes of Bon Iver and an eye on the misty horizon. Guitarist Mark McGuire has left Ohio electronic outfit Emeralds . Fellow member Steve Hauschildt announced the news on his Twitter account, also adding : "Emeralds will continue on as a duo consisting of myself and John. Thank you so much for your continued support over the last seven years." Despite the loss, Hauschildt insists they'll tour stateside, Australia, Europe, and Japan in support of last year's incredibly rich album, Just to Feel Anything . Manchester heavy-pop outfit WU LYF have apparently called it quits. Last night, the band dropped a new song on YouTube entitled "T R I U M P H", alongside what appeared to be farewell letters from each band member. Asobi Seksu and legendary Japanese trio Boris have announced a limited edition split 73 which will be available as a Record Store exclusive release on Black Friday, Nov. 23, and can be pre-ordered  here . The forthcoming split single features each band covering a song by the other. Asobi Seksu takes on Boris' majestic "Farewell" off of their album Pink, while Boris reworks "New Years" from Asobi Seksu's Citrus, here as "Neu Years."
