It's Sunday once again, and what's more appropriate for a nice Sunday afternoon than some good music? This time, I'm going to post a track that may seem a bit random, but I've been really fascinated by it after picking it up at Electrorash . Faux Fox is normally a pretty straight-forward rockband with some indie tendencies, but when Neon Coyote (notice all the animals in this) start remixing, we're facing something along the lines of an indie/dance party. The synths are put up front and the vocals really step into character and carry the tune with some desperate [...]

As much as I love this remix, I think the most exciting part of posting this was the opportunity to search for images of foxes and coyotes, particularly ones with the both of them hanging out in the snow together, you know, being all pointy-eared and Canidae. The above picture is of course lovely, but probably would have been slightly more so had that bird not ruined it by being neither fox nor coyote, nor any other dog-like creature for that matter. If that fox wasn't trying to blink all the snow out of its eyes it would surely be [...]

Well shit on us. Here's some hot off the grill remixes by our favorite (and somehow most productive) minors, Neon Coyote . They've also included a new original track for good company, so, er, awesome. Please enjoy these today, often, whenever. Keep watching out for a total and absolute coup in the near future. 27 September, 2008 " Faux Fox currently call Dirt City (Dallas – Fort Worth – Denton), Texas their home, and are finishing up their latest recording, All That Remains, due to be released by the Australian label, EXO Records." - Exo Records. Now with their record released, all it needs it a good remix. Not sure when the fox meet the coyote, but here it is, a dancy and always fun Neon Coyote remix! Get some headphones on, or turn the [...]

Faux Fox - Dirt City Rollers (Neon Coyote Remix)
Before we delve into this weekend's show options, a bit of a programming note: I'll be out of the office tomorrow, and Jesse Hughey will be en route/just starting to set up shop in Austin at this year's ACL Fest where he, along with a couple of our photographers and our counterparts at our sister paper, the Houston Press , will be blogging all weekend long, offering, no doubt, insightful commentary, hilarious anecdotes and phenomenal slideshows of the festival. So, don't fret, there will be blogging in this space tomorrow--and Saturday and Sunday, too, [...]

Wow. Busy day today, huh? Anyway, there's lots going on this weekend. And, actually, we've told you about a lot of it already. Tonight, there's Grandmaster Flash spinning at Ghostbar , the Street Dogs show at House of Blues and the Dr. Dog show at Lola's in Forth Worth . On Saturday, there's Mogwai and Fuck Buttons at The Granada , the Evangelicals , Matt Bauer and [...]
Last week, we told you where to find some of the already-leaked tracks from Faux Fox 's latest , All That Remains . And, in this week's paper, Ms. Merritt Martin went ahead and reviewed said disc , calling it "a more dynamic, more dramatic, but equally tongue-in-cheek effort" than Faux Fox's earlier works. Can't say I disagree. The disc's just a good time, really--not to mention that it's yet another effort representative of the whole electro-dance thing going strong throughout North Texas at the moment ( VEGA , Mission [...]

Yesterday, when the music blog Party Ends posted a very flattering item about local electro dance rocker outfit Faux Fox , it also posted the track "Class Ring onto its site for download. (You can grab it here . And I really recommend that you do.) But, more interestingly, it became the third track from Faux Fox's upcoming album, All That Remains to leak to the Internet. (In late May, Gorilla Vs. Bear leaked "Personal Best" ; in early May, Neonimals, leaked "Brass Ring" ). [...]

Faux Fox has been a Texas favorite of mine for a good long time. Between their outlandish, theatrical stage show and their ability to make consistently catchy and equally outlandish and theatrical semi-electronic dance tunes, they cover pretty much all the bases of a great band you very well might never have heard of, despite carrying a hefty and loyal fan base. Their newest minimal blipfest is called "Class Ring ," heading up the release of their newest full length All That Remains . Check it out and catch [...]

Nazi snakes that dwell in pyramids!? Fucking hell S.S. Pyramid Snake, did you create music just for us!? The prospect of the existence of such creatures is like one of those cool nightmares you are having - the ones that you feel bad from because you went and woke ...
Indie sports fans, here are my assembled thoughts on teams and their selections in this year's NFL Draft... Cleveland Browns - You gotta think the Browns are thrilled with how the draft went. Expected to take Brady Quinn with the number three overall pick, they end up getting the best offensive lineman in the draft and still got Quinn by trading up out of round two to number 22 in round one. They also got CB Eric Wright who will have a big impact on the defense. Considering they won't [...]
