Federico Aubele is on Thievery Corporation's ESL label. He has often been pitched as chillout but his work has often felt too much straight latin singer/songwriter to fit in that genre. He has a new album coming and things have changed. It's Berlin wot done it. And the album's even called Berlin 13 . Check out No one below. This has electronic beats and an unnerving essence. This is what he should have been doing more than five years ago. Federico Aubele - No one There's also a video for Rhapsody in Blue [...]

★★★☆☆ Argentinean Federico Aubele paints a rather glum picture of his time in the German capital, sending a postcard beset by drizzle and offering a weak smile that listeners will find unconvincing with regard to the destination's merits. Structured/hampered by Aubele's strict yet contradictory inventory, Latin acoustic strums and snatches of Gallic accordion feel for a continental pensiveness against tear-stained sceneries and dub-issued basses. Topped off with sleazily hushed vocals, far from exploiting melancholia, the delivery sounds like he's planning Gainsbourg-like fantasies, Aubele's walks through damp air, hands dug deep in pockets and collar [...]

Another busy Monday ... ► Tift Merritt won plenty of acclaim for last year's "See You on the Moon," her fourth album, and her recent turn in the star-studded Big Star tribute in New York City only polished her resumé. The 36-year-old singer-songwriter nears the end of a long tour with roots rocker Stephen Kellogg tonight at the Bootleg Theater. (It's an early show.) ► Rising indie-rockers Hands headline the RSVP-only It's a School Night at Bardot, but it's the EP release party for [...]

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars How does one describe the music of Federico Aubele ? When I listen to his baritone voice accompanied by sultry electronic beats, it's easy for me to picture a younger and slightly less debonair version of the Dos Equis Most Interesting Man in the World crooning along to these sinister tracks, but perhaps that's just me. However, there can be no denying the heaviness of Aubele's deep voice makes this half electronic half Spanish club music stand apart from anything you've ever heard. Whether [...]

El bolero Argentino, Federico Aubele , has announced a slew of tour dates and the release of his new album, "Berlin 13," that was released last week. The ESL alum recorded the album, coincidentally, in Berlin while taking in the sights and sounds of the electric city. The new album is as hypnotizing as previous efforts that will seduce your ears upon listening to the steamy sounds. You can purchase the new album here . Federico Aubele [...]

An amused and drunk romantic. Like Gotan Project, Federico Aubele makes electro-tango, but I like this sound better, the downbeat sneaky throb of it, less flashy than the Project's, more insinuating, ambient, enveloping, with its hip-hop bounce, its sometimes-wordless crooning by Natalie Clavier, the crisp and minor earthquakes from the accordion, the nostalgia in its lyrics. "Sadly listening / To the tuneless cry of the wind / There's no one to save / The day," sighs Aubele, resigned to this...

Filed under: News , Video , New Music , New Releases Ninetynine Films, NYC When Federico Aubele dreams, he creates landscapes of evocative dub-acoustica inspired by Argentinean lounge grooves and experimental composers of the '50s and '60s. The South American baritone's newest album, 'Berlin 13,' was written after moving to the German artistic haven. There, Aubele experienced a personal transformation and was heavily influenced by the city's electronic music scene.

Argentinean dub-bolero master, Federico Aubele , is set to release his fourth LP via ESL Records . The new album was inspired by the heavy Berlin electronic scene as Aubele burrowed himself in the album making. Look for "Berlin 133 to hit the streets April 4th. Look for Natalia Clavier, Ka, Mauro Refosco and Jesse Harris as collaborators on the forthcoming release. Federico Aubele-Corazon [mp3]

Sergei Nikolaevitch, a round little man with a plump, light-complexioned face, gazed first at the master of the house, then raised his eyes to the ceiling. 'I had no first love,' he said at last; 'I began with the second.' 'How was that?' 'It's very simple. I was eighteen when I had my first flirtation with a charming young lady, but I courted her just as though it were nothing new to me; just as I courted others later on. To speak accurately, the first and last time I was in love was with my nurse [...]
Öncelikle her [...]

The Flaming Lips - Photo by Shawn Robbins Day Two started out…awkward. I had chase down a few scalpers to get my girlfriend a ticket but ended up meeting up with someone from craigslist. Our deal got a little odd when the scalpers started harassing us buy saying that the guy selling my tickets shouldn't be trusted. I politely told him to fuck off, and met up with my girl at the front of the bus line at AT&T Park. We ended up getting there a bit late, making me miss the [...]
In my honest opinion, Treasure Island Music Festival is the best music festival I have ever attended. The line-up this year was filled with the best of who's-who in the indie music world without it compromising reputation by booking a radio-friendly act in order to boost ticket sales. Besides, both dates were sold out and for good reason. So let's go over Day One first; first off, not the best day. Not a bad day by any means though. Bay Area's own The Limousines kicked off the festival at a perfectly upbeat and energetic [...]
