As summer continues to (slowly) flow in, so do fortunately music festivals ! Here is a fun and friendly festival that is worth having a look at ! Leefest is taking place on the beautiful rural location of Higham Hills Farms, Bromley, South East London and is happening on the 12-14th August. Marked by the [...]

Mark Ronson - Valerie Ft. Amy Winehouse Clap [...]

If Bestival feels a little like the exceedingly bearable equivalent to the physically, mentally and emotionally crushing belligerence of Freshers Week only found in unshattered hopes and dreams, its rapidly maturing progeny, Camp Bestival , presents the sort of kindergarten ambience you wish you'd crawled into aeons before traipsing off to campus-based, all-too-fluorescent post-adolescence. Geared towards the middle class family-centric masses yet with enough multimedia divertissement to enamour all ages, as you wake up to bedtime tales and slumber to the sound of uproarious teen inebriation, the fields encircling Lulworth Castle are as devoid of generational categorisation [...]

Now, I'm not going to pretend that where I live is the best place for the Arts. But as reasonably sized cities go, Nijmegen is rather fortunate. Big art house cinema, the occasional theatre shows coming in, and especially the dance line-up isn't too shabby at the local pop venues. The crown on the cultural year is de-Affaire though. It lasts for seven evenings and admission is free. The line-up is wonderfully eclectic, from folk to dance. The best thing about it though is seeing the same faces every night, most of which you remember from last year [...]

For many people a love of music festivals doesn't stop once they're out of their teenage years or early twenties, but their tastes in the kind of festival they attend does. In the same way that as you grow older your musical preferences may change or expand, so may your choice in these outdoor cities of musical heaven. Glastonbury, Reading or V are often where people lose their virginity (of the festival kind as well as possibly sexual), drawn by big names, heavy media exposure, and peer group pressure, but after a number of these events there may be a [...]

The BASSment is our SL series with the sole purpose of dropping highly explosive, bass filled bombs. Prep your sound systems, ear drums, and head to the BASSment cause these wobbly missiles blow everything above ground. It's been a good minute since we came back with a bag full of bass bangers for you, so forgive (or thank) us for the size of this BASSment. We'll kick it off with a track that isn't dubstep but a bomb collaboration between Diplo and basshead Datsik . Ya, it's pretty rad. [...]
It's hard to believe July is already here. The mid-point of the year has arrived, and for many sites like this it marks a time to evaluate 20112s releases thus far and attempt to order them in some way. I consider doing so to be somewhat premature and unnecessary; I know of many albums the [...]
Barely a day passes without another mash-up band hitting the scene. The past decade's emergence of various genres and styles of music being combined to create new sounds is not particularly new, and is rarely executed in any kind of stylish manner. But Fenech-Soler are one in a line of acts taking influence from indie, [...]

Here's a band that have taken us on a bumpy ride in recent months. Last November Get People released their début double A-sided single, the Careless/Odyssey EP. It earned them plenty of coverage online with a multitude of useful blogs pointing their pages enthusiastically in their direction. It certainly got them under our virtual noses, but due to the light, fluffy nature of both tracks it actually turned out to be more a case of getting under our skin, so we held off from a bit of Recommender coverage until we'd seen more evidence of life [...]
They will join previously announced headliners The Maccabees and Graham Coxon for the weekend long event in Leicester.

We offer today a sneak preview and suggestion to keep the name "Moda" in mind. This isn't some new artist, or even a record label; in it's purist sense it is a 'good music collective'. Started by a few big names over at BBC Radio 1, Jaymo & Andy George, Moda first aimed to throw the illenist party in London. As their party grew, bigger spaces, and bigger names joined. They've decided to continue their passion for good music by putting together a compilation from some of the baddest names in the business out May 23; many of these tracks [...]

Waiting about in the winter months for a lonely bus to arrive and then seeing two arrive at once is always an annoying factor, but unlike the delivery of two things happening simultaneously (and being able to drive also), Black Cherry and I Killed Kenny respectively, end up crafting a duo's worth of individually sounding [...]

Waiting about in the winter months for a lonely bus to arrive and then seeing two arrive at once is always an annoying factor, but unlike the delivery of two things happening simultaneously (and being able to drive also), Black Cherry and I Killed Kenny respectively, end up crafting a duo's worth of individually sounding remixes with Black Cherry retouching 'Demons' to their own tasting, and I Killed Kenny going down the always beloved route of BeatauCue a'la Congorock . Refreshing mixes two times two! [...]

Tweet So I just graduated from college and the only thing on my mind right now is the beach (and a job). So in honor of the good times that will be had this summer avec alcohol and cheeba smoke, I'm gonna lay down a monster mix of party tracks that will be sure to kick up some sand. I don't know about ya'll, but I'm ready for the beach. [...]

It's great when you can take something as serious as cancer and turn it around into something positive, and that's EXACTLY what UK electro-pop band Fenech-Soler has done. Recently diagnosed with early stage testicular cancer, lead singer Ben Duffy is currently embarking on a short course of chemotherapy which has forced the band to reschedule their forthcoming UK tour dates. As devastating as this news must have been to take, Duffy seems to be taking it all in stride and [...]
Back in the mists of time, I used to get my pocket money and head off down to Goldrush Records to spend it on Kinks, Small Faces and The Jam singles. It was heaven. During the era of The Jam you need to sell upwards of 100,000 copies of your single to stand a chance of a Number 1. Times have certainly changed. Downloads have revolutionised the UK Chart and sales of singles rarely reach 100,000. Now, which of the following singles will tickle your fancy, whether or be vinyl, CD or digital download. [...]
