![congratulations Katie Curran (she is a Master [of the universe and music business])](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3469802_lg.jpg)
TheSteamCo took a little break. And now we're ready to come back ... with big new plans up our fashionable sleeves. But the break came with good reason, so I would like to say to the newest and mostly aptly titled master of music business katie curran: CONGRATUFUCKINLATIONS. you now deserve a v&t, a nap, and a small break before the real world breaks down your door. (folks, the real world has already been prepared for katie's awesomeness.) So here it is: A mini mix for you, Katie. "Cults - Go Outside" [...]

Download: Fergus & Geronimo Daytrotter Session When Fergus & Geronimo dropped their debut LP earlier this year, it was a reason to let out a sign of relief. It was nice to start off the year with a band who didn't take themselves so seriously. F&G have a new Daytrotter session out. I didn't think it was possible, but it seems they found different ways to bring their outlandish personalities to a new level. Singing about movie sequels and sex with older women are just a few tricks of the [...]

Genre: Garage Pop Label: Daytrotter Unlearn, the debut album by Fergus & Geronimo, after a few 7" is one of the best records of 2011. Even if I prefer the songs written by A. Savage a.k.a. Fergus, the whole album is a funny and ironic and trip through sixties psych pop garage r'n'b sound with some sidekicks to the modern world of scenesters and hipsters. "Unlearn means to discard any misinformati [ This is the summary, read the whole story on Website [...]

Toronto - Fergus and Geronimo are a garage pop band out of Denton, Texas who make music that touches on a variety of different genres and takes influence from doo wop and Frank Zappa. They're named after two characters from an Irish movie I've never heard of , so I guess they win obscurity points for that. While on album they sound quite diverse, live they come across as a more straightforward garage rock band, albeit one with a sense of humour. They're the kind of band who can play a song about Roman numerals and all [...]

Michael Ann German Who: Fergus & Geronimo What: Not the best ever death metal band out of Denton, but another duo from that same Texan town with a penchant for garage-fi doo-wop-inflected pop. Why: Their debut album Unlearn just came out on Sub Pop subsidiary Hardly Art and they're taking the show on the road . When: Saturday, March 16, 2011 Where: The Garrison in Toronto (19+) Who else: [...]

Toronto - Another week, another series of concerts. My life is such a routine. Sharon Van Etten April 12th, Drake If you haven't been fully entranced by a Sharon Van Etten live show, then you get the opportunity to check that off your bucket list on Tuesday. The Brooklyn based singer songwriter is best seen in small intimate venues and the Drake is certainly one of those places. Her most recent album, Epic has garnered her a lot of deserved attention as it is filled with earnest songs that highlights [...]
Fergus & Geronimo - Powerful Lovin' Buy US: Buy UK:

A few weeks back a Steam Co reader said they were so overjoyed with their new MacBook Pro that it deserved its own mix. But one day you're in - the next day you're out, when it comes to Project Runway, and the world computers, supercomputers and microchips. The day Katie got her iPhone - she was thrilled. While her iPhone still works fine - that was TWO iPhones ago. And Alyssa was thrilled to recieve her MacBook, back in 2007. Now she just dreams of much prettier MacBook Pro. So for those few moments when you are leading [...]

As the crowd trickled into Nashville's favorite hole-in-the-wall venue, The End, this past rainy Wednesday evening, it became apparent pretty quickly that the word of the evening would be eclectic. Whether it was the humorous juxtaposition of leather-clad punks and guys in questionably short shorts with ping pong paddles, or the lineup - local, danceable garage rockers Faux Ferocious , local thrashers Cy Barkley , and Rock History 101 teachers Fergus & Geronimo - there was a little bit of everything, and the stage was sure set for a good time. Quartet Faux Ferocious [...]

[concert poster by Olivia Hu] They hail from Denton, Texas and their label is based in Seattle, but on Wednesday last, Fergus & Geronimo seemed perfectly at home in a DIY warehouse in Brooklyn. Their eclectic and multi-influenced album Unlearn ( Hardly Art ) comprised about half their set, but the songs took a decidedly more garage-rock sound in the live setting. This was appropriate, considering that they anchored a five-band late night set at a classic ToddP event. Fergus & Geronimo are currently tour out West, but [...]

Fergus & Geronimo, Seapony & Idle Times at the Jewelbox Theatre, Seattle | 4 March 2011 I wasn't expecting much from Fergus and Geronimo last night at the Jewelbox Theatre after being underwhelmed when I saw them a year ago at SXSW , but as luck would have it I was anything but underwhelmed. The tiny Jewelbox is one of my favorite places to see a show in the city. It's been around since the 19202s. It is an [...]

After releasing various singles over the past couple of years, Fergus & Geronimo's first full-length album sways from odd to pop to rock throughout its eleven songs/half-hour or so, and never without interesting layers and textures. The Denton, Texas duo's influences are equally unique - Frank Zappa and Sparks are listed as important - and...

Fergus & Geronimo are named after the rival child gang leaders from the 1994 movie War Of The Buttons, their music is at times both focused and loose, and comes from a wide range of unexpected influences. At the core of the group is Jason Kelly and Andrew Savage, who met while Kelly was recording and mixing a record for Teenage Cool Kids, a band started by Savage. During that four month process of recording, Kelly and Savage bonded over music, the creative process of recording, and the possibility of having a band that draws from a variety of [...]

I don't want it to seem like all I'm going to do this week is talk about Air Waves and Fergus & Geronimo, but this is going to be such a great show! Excellent bands from top to bottom. Web Dating is, of course, Tucker from Total Slacker's other band that sings exclusively about love. Human Resources is a super neat noise-ish project from Impose's Jeremy Krinsley. And, of course, I've been chattering on about how happy I am that Fergus & Geronimo now live in this city pretty much non-stop. This show will be good vibes and good times, [...]

Fergus & Geronimo were a surprisingly awesome opener to Wild Nothing and Abe Vigoda at their gig at Brooklyn's kind of unknown, next door to Glasslands, nameless warehouse: 285 Kent. Check out our video of them (we love drummers who can sing). They're really fun live so keep an eye out for these guys! www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0GXDy LD4LQ Technorati Tags: Fergus & Geronimo

We here at NJU are happy to announce that we'll be presenting a show featuring: JEFF the Brotherhood & Fergus and Geronimo . NJ bands, Slow Animal and Alien Father will be supporting the two touring groups on the bill.
