Back in April, we posted about a special intimate show with The Ferocious Few at the Bamm.TV headquarters in SOMA. Well, it happened and now we've got the video to prove it. Watch the Mission District's premiere rock-a-billy band power through the cut "Midnight Ghost" — a track from their debut album Juices — while pulsing white lights give the performance an edgy, almost threatening vibe. San Francisco rockers Ferocious Few have weathered quite a few storms in their days playing all over the city, but this one's especially bad: On Feb 25th, someone stole lead singer Francisco Fernandez's 1995 Red Nissan Pathfinder (License plate number 3SNY839) from 772 South Van Ness. It gets worse though. The van was full of every musical instrument Fernandez owns, including 3 guitars worth thousands of dollars, and the break-in happened just weeks before the band is scheduled to perform at SXSW. The good news: the band played a benefit show on [...]

Tweet Photos by: Agata Kamler I've seen the Ferocious Few more time than I care to count. I've seen them in parks, on street corners, at raucous outdoor festivals. I saw them play in the middle of a packed street during a joyous near-riot the night Obama was elected. I've seen them so regularly that I once recognized their guitarist on an airplane. This may be the only local band at their level I've seen often enough to pick out [...]

Two-piece rock bands have been around long before the White Stripes garnered mass-media attention for (among other things) not having a bass player. Where the White Stripes now have a high-gloss sheen, San Francisco's The Ferocious Few bash out their brand of lo-fi blues-rock with the fervor and energy of a booze-soaked Southern preacher. In a recent interview, guitarist/vocalist Francisco Fernandez described the band's music as " stripped down rockabilly rock n' roll. A lot of songs about love and heartbreak and with lots of energy…people have said it's a mixture between Bob Dylan and Motorhead. " [...]
So smitten by these bands were we in 2010 that we glorify them with the deepest of poetry. Grab a tissue or a rose and find a loved one, these are worth repeating. Tweet How does this happen? How does a local two-piece band known primarily for their busking endeavors end up opening for Cyndi freakin' Lauper on her U.S. tour? Sure, the Ferocious Few landed a deal with Birdman Records for a full-length record after months of appearing on San Francisco street corners on any given evening. They drew a crowd at this year's Treasure Island Music Festival and impressed many at SxSW (including those [...]
