![[MP3] Fialta: “Photographs”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4952116_lg.jpg)
I wrote about Fialta, the 'fun-loving California indie pop group,' back in May of 2011, and my opinion hasn't much changed. They're keeping things light and sugary on their upcoming full-length, and "Photographs," the first single, is a prime example. Even though they're in sunny Cal all year round, they know what it's like for us seasonal people. The album, Summer Winter , set for a July 23 wide release, is perfect summer music. So thank you in advance, Fialta, for making my summer that much better. Fialta on Facebook [...]

Tweet You know those moments when you've been having a really bad day and nothing you seem to do makes it any better? Well I was having one of those moments tonight. Work was a total nightmare, the rain was pouring (again!), my bank card got stuck in the atm and when I got home the TV wasn't working. I only had one beer in the fridge so cracking that open, I then did what I normally do in these moments; I dived into [...]
Wrap yourself in the bittersweet beach blanket harmonies and catchy pop-folk songs of Fialta.

When you are in the depths of Winter it can feel as if Spring will never arrive, and yet here we are, with the weather growing warmer, the days becoming longer and the skies often seeming bluer. We're riding bicycles through city streets, planning camping trips with friends, drinking beers while watching baseball games and going on long hikes through the hills. It's a good time of year. A lot of the music that I've been obsessing over speaks to the change in the season too. By and large these aren't songs for a day at a beach, which isn't [...]

San Luis Obispo is a stunning little city. Laying quietly off the Pacific Coast Highway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, it features rugged and hilly outdoors, stunning shorelines that include striking rock formations, and temperate, sunny weather with a laid-back vibe. And not only is S.L.O. the home of mutli-instrumentalist/multi-vo calist quartet Fialta , but there is the sense that they couldn't have come from anywhere else. Their three-track intro EP is a fun-loving and eclectic mix of gooey, cooing, and hand-clap loving indie-pop. It opens with the lovely "Summer Winter" which is followed by the slow groove and [...]

I envy lyrical geniuses. There are certain musicians who have a remarkable way with words, and their songs are brilliant because they're pure poetry - poetry with a beat. Whatever the genre may be, I've always been the type of person who listens to the words and then the rhythm when I first hear a song. I think it says a lot about the artist and their music, and their ability to find the right instruments to compliment the lyrics is just as crucial. So for this week's Fresh Meat round-up, I'm featuring some talented new [...]

Meet the handsome Fialta , an alternative four-piece indie-pop band from San Luis Obispo, CA. If you're a fan of Phantom Planet, Little Joy, and Broken Social Scene you should pay some attention to their new EP (available to purchase in full here ). The band features Sherwood members David Provenzano and Michael Leibovich, as well as Beth Clements and Sarah Shotwell. The result is being described as "Central Coast indie pop." We strongly recommend the EP as a whole as it was tough narrowing down just one of their songs to post below. [...]

Let's take it back to 2004 like we're listening to The Format or Guillemots again. Popular indie music has recently transformed into a "my stuff must be weirder than anything you've heard in your life for me to be cool" thought process. Well, you know who doesn't fall into that fast-becoming quicksand? Fialta, a fun-loving California indie pop group who wear such a description on their sleeve. The tunes are full of strings, keys, whistles, handclaps, guy/gal harmonies - the whole shebang. Fialta's members are multi-instrumentalists and multi-vocalists; they take turns on [...]
