When choosing my favourite album of 2011, there is no doubt in my mind as to what it is going to be; I haven't had an album on replay this much in a long time. If you're looking for the perfect stocking filler for any music lover, look no further; grab a few copies of Homeless , by the Montreal-based, psychedelic folk rock five-some, Final Flash , and you will be on everyone's nice list this holiday season. Final Flash [...]

Time flies by so quickly during Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest 2011 . It was the last Saturday and the weather was very hot that day which was somewhat great to check out the live music. There was alot acts playing at different stages during the day. The acts I saw were: New Teeth The Beauties Final Flash [...]

This is a surprise, I finally went to my first show at Le Petit Chicago in Gatineau (I still call it Hull) on April 23, 2011. I was there to see my favorite Montreal band Parlovr and Final Flash . Sadly I didn't get to see Final Flash due to be a late show. At first I thought it would be just those two. But it happened to be a " M for/pour Montreal " showcase so they needed to add like two local acts (mostly from Gatineau) for it. [...]

A week ago today, 53 000 people showed up on Île-Sainte-Hélène, making this year's festivities their most well attended edition yet. Killer lineup of bands + perfect Summer weather, there was no way this edition would fail. Highlights for me included hearing songs from the new Walkmen album "Lisbon". they were the first band I caught on Satuday and [...]

The Five Ghosts from Stars is now on sale. Buy it here in one or more of multiple formats . My favorite song so far is the opening track "Dead Hearts", but there's a lot to like on the entire album including "I Died So I Could Haunt You", which is a kind of cool title and concept, and of course "Fixed", an excellent track. Take a listen if you are a Stars fan. Download Stars - "Dead Hearts".mp3 [...]

Last year I saw Final Flash at NXNE (you can read my review here ). I wasn't impressed with their stage show but I did like their music. This year, I have their debut album in my hot little hands and I've got to say it – you did good, boys. I was really, really impressed with this album. It wears it's classic folk-rock/psychedelic roots proudly and although it sounds familiar it is definitely not derivative or banal. You can hear all the typical classic rock influences from Tom Petty to Pink Floyd but [...]

Three bands played a great show from No Noise on May 6, 2010. The bands were: Final Flash Oceans The Gallop The Gallop had a few changes in the band. Someone left the band and gain two [...]
The Drake (Underground) is a rather classier place than my usual haunts so I felt a little like a fish out of water last night when I arrived. That feeling soon left because I was too busy enjoying what I heard coming from the stage. First I have to give kudos to the sound guy because the sound quality was amazing last night. The vocals were clear and the instruments were nicely mixed. There were some problems in that the bands would ask for changes to the monitor mix but that had little to do with [...]

Who : Final Flash from Montreal. What : Based on how well 2008 went for this Montreal band, 2009 will be time for them to attack. Sporting a jangly psychedelic folk-rock sound they conquered a variety of festivals ( Canadian Music Week , Pop Montreal ) and showcase opportunities ( Transmission , TIFF Canadian Music Cafe ). Coming up, the band will release their debut CD (produced by Besnard's Lace Jacek) and head down to Austin next month for SXSW . I [...]
