It is happening again. After two dormant weeks of doing virtually nothing (OK, very little is more like it), evenings this week were spent spinning vinyl by The Smiths and painting Andi's sewing room in preparation for putting in the bamboo flooring this weekend. Next up will be my record room, which will be a big pain; moving thousands of CDs, LPs and 73 Singles is not a task I will find enjoyable (hence the top photo). But the finished product will be the ultimate reward. I digress. [...]
Singer-songwriter Kae Sun has been living in Toronto for years but it's his homeland, Ghana, that pulls at his heartstrings and inspires his songs.

Nothing lifts the soul quite like a soothing dreampop tune. Chicago duo Tiny Fireflies are back with a new single called "Picture Perfect." The song features the same light and breezy vocals by singer Kristine Capua that we've all come to know and love, and combines them with cheery beats and lush guitar styled by Lisle Mitnik. The end result is shoegaze perfection. Listen to the track here: "Picture Perfect" "Picture Perfect" is being released as a split single with Japanese shoegazers Lily of the Valley. The [...]

We've covered Maurizio Sangineto's productions before on this site. Firefly was a dance music group composed of fellow Italians and released four LPs during their career. This track was a big tune at the Garage. The uplifting vocals get me every time. I also really like the brave use of some dynamic range in this 12" mix. It is rare to hear jams like this with such an impact when the beat comes in after the breakdown. Firefly - Love (Is Gonna Be On Your Side)
Last Thursday, Badass Digest's Devin Faraci made the observation that the GOP debates have lasted longer that the television runs for Freaks & Geeks, Firefly, and Arrested Development . It was a pretty funny and clever observation. Is it a coincidence, or suspicious that Mediate's Philip Bump then made the same observation without crediting Faraci the next day? I get that there's very little original content on the Internet, but best practice dictates giving a shout-out to the place you find content or the place that inspires a [...]

Tiny Fireflies From : Chicago, United States Tiny Fireflies are Lisle and Kristine from the Chicago indiepoppers Very Truly Yours. They are also Lisle from Fireflies and Kristine from Tiny Microphone. Together as a duo, they are Tiny Fireflies. See what they did there? That's democracy in action! Together they make beautiful music that's like chicken soup for the ears. Your Love gently caresses your ears with melodies [...]
... und damit kommen auch die Weihnachtssongs über uns. The Best Songs Of 2011 (76 - 100) Making the Best Albums list was relatively easy compared to nailing down the 100 best songs of 2011. The level of incredible music to surface this year is unbelievable. What's more difficult is trying to create some sort of order when laying these songs out, what makes [...]

Tiny Fireflies Three reasons to brave the cold and get to the Empty Bottle this evening... 1. Tiny Fireflies craft a sound that snares eardrums via its bouncy nature and delicate foundation that occasionally throwsback to the most lighthearted of '80s dream pop. Bone-tight drums machine rhythms and feathery melodies via guitar vocals and synth cut like a knife, but the sound is never intimidating and always lands on the innocent side. LISTEN: "So Sad to Say Goodbye" [...]

Tweet As with most things we're a bit late with getting around to rejoicing certain events. So it took us till 3 days before Easter to celebrate Paddy's Day and the longest day of the year song only arrived on October 21st. So it should come as no surprise that we'll lagging behind in presenting you with our first Christmas song this year. Normally, with Halloween just put to bed the reindeer sounds flood our stacks and it is normally just a [...]

"Fireflies" is the comeback single from the band The Pale Corners . The last time we heard from them was with the single "Steve Buscemi" in 2009. The ambition after that was to release more songs, but a lot of internal problems came in the way, and the songs were put on hold. But now they're back with this song, which feels really promising for the future. The band name the explain with: Our lyrics are much about dreams and the state between reality and dreams. And then we thought that the name fit [...]

Listening to Camp , I felt like Justin Bieber when he got the paternity lawsuit. Where did this come from? Then I said, "is that Donald Glover from Community ? Damn, he can rap." Gambino has everything too. The depth, wordplay, metaphors, similes, production, and hooks. Just picking a song to hearse was a task. In the end, "Fire Fly" was the hottest in my ears, since I felt that it embodied the entire album rather nice. Yes, summer is long gone, but let's go on a short camping trip to Gambino's commercial debut. [...]

Direktlink: Fireflies erscheint auf Since Records .

Lovable dream pop duo Tiny Fireflies get the animated treatment in a fan video for "So Sad to Say Goodbye" from their recent EP Change . The video features jaunty ink and water color-style figures going for a stroll during a rain storm. Somehow it just works mixed together the light-as-air background music provided by Tiny Fireflies. If this video whets your palate, you'll want to check out Tiny Fireflies tonight, live and in person with the Cross Record at CHIRP Night at the Whistler . [...]
Fireflies in the Garden (2008) Despite have a stellar cast and being released internationally in 2008, Fireflies in the Garden did not obtain US distribution until now. The film, which was written and directed by Dennis Lee, is full of...
A closely observed exploration of the complexities of love and commitment in a family torn apart when faced with an unexpected tragedy, Fireflies in the Garden marks the feature directorial debut of Dennis Lee from a screenplay he wrote. Lee, a student Academy Award winner for his short film, Jesus Henry Christ, was inspired to [...]
