Fireworks Night announce new single "Amongst The Disappeared", video and London shows Fireworks Night are to begin 2012 with a new single from their excellent long-player 'One Winter, One Spring' . "Amongst The Disappeared", released on March 5th, is a stomping tune constructed from plucked viola, resonant piano and skittering drums, all underscoring the howled vocal of band mainstay James Lesslie. It builds up to rousing conclusion that sounds as Motown as it does alt-country. Fireworks Night - Amongst the [...]

"maddening backing vocals alongside jazz-hands piano, without the showing off" ALBUM: Fireworks Night - A Mirror, A Ghost words: Jamie Milton originally scribed for gigwise It's awfully difficult to gain a valid judgement on an album that sweeps you so far away from reality from the moment you vulnerably give it access to your eardrums. Old-fashioned but true to its gorgeously arranged, hand-made packaging, 'A Mirror, A Ghost' sees Fireworks Night becoming an authentic act, full of surprises for those who thought [...]

It's the 5th of November, the night when people all over Britain celebrate the gruesome death of some Catholics in 1605 . Or just go and build a bonfire and watch some fireworks going off. It's also a good day to release a new album. Especially if your band's name is Fireworks Night . Fireworks Night have been round these parts before, after they released their second long-player As Fools We Are last year. It was a fine album, but didn't get the attention it deserved, a fact which seems to have left main [...]
Well, the nights are drawing in, the mornings are getting colder, it can only mean one thing; Autumn is just around the corner. But, with that depressing thought starting to circulate (though Autumn is one of MY favourite months) we've got something to take your mind right off it. This months Mixtape features a whole array of great talent, from the quasi-anti-folk of Polly Scattergood to the return of a TLOBF Fav, Of Montreal. Can ...
TRACK : FIREWORKS NIGHT - "Echo's Swing" BLOG : THE DAILY GROWL - (LONDON, UK)

So last night The Baby Growl allowed me out for a rare (these days) gig appearance. But which one? So much choice! Emmy the Great and Eugene McGuinness at The Borderline, Richard Hawley at the Roundhouse, A Hawk and a Hacksaw at the Luminaire and The Early Years and a heap of others at 229, to name but a few. But I went for St Vincent and Fireworks Night at The Slaughtered Lamb in Clerkenwell. I saw Annie Clark supporting Sufjan (and playing in his band) at the Barbican last year, but back then [...]

Today, I'm returning to Fireworks Night . No, not the 5th of November , but the band I first posted on back in February . Then I had a few tracks to impress me. Now I have the whole of their second album As Fools We Are , which is released this week. On first listen a few weeks ago, I liked it, but this is another album to give some time to. It's a slow burner that will probably seep slowly under your skin if you give it a chance. Like [...]

I was always going to give Fireworks Night a decent chance. They've played with Emmy the Great, and count other Daily Growl faves Noah and the Whale and Johnny Flynn among their myspace friends. So a positive impression from the start. And I'm pleased to say that they sound good too. The band have been going since 2003, when James Lesslie and Ricky M got some friends together to record their first album It's a Wide, Wide Sea in a garage in Devon. This album was initially self-released and distributed, until Organ Grinder [...]
