Yes, our favourite Swedish duo First Aid Kit are back. After the massive success of The Big Black and The Blue , which we shortlisted as album of the year in 2010, the girls will be releasing their new album, The Lion's Roar , on January 24th 2012 through Wichita Recordings. You can listen to the title-track from the album (released as a limited 7" on December 5th) above these words. It's bloody beautiful.
Swedish folk pop duo First Aid Kit announced their second album, the Mike Mogis-produced The Lion's Roar , in mid-September and yesterday they released the album's title track as the first single from the album. "The Lion's Roar" was premiered yesterday on PSL in Sweden, The Guardian in the UK and NPR in the US, and it certainly shows promise for the upcoming full-length after having been a live favourite for quite some time now. The Swedish sisters Soderberg return with "Lion's Roar", excerpted here from the duo's upcoming LP of the same name. FAK's beautiful "Ghost Town" was one of our favorite tracks of 2010 and "Lion's Roar" is right there in terms of quality. The combined efforts of Gift Horse Project and Manimal Vinyl Records have rounded up a group of talented musicians to record some school-friendly versions of song for what they're calling, Cool for School: For the Benefit of the Lunchbox Fund . On Tuesday night, Bright Eyes was in the House of Blues as part of the band’s ongoing farewell tour in support of the outfit’s latest album The People’s Key. Our Julia Pretus was there to snap a gallery of shots of what may just be the final New Orleans appearance for Conor Oberst’s project after 16 years. Bright Eyes will be appearing next on Friday evening at this year’s Austin City Limits festival.
