Eric Michener was just a young lad in middle school when he and his classmates went on a field trip to the Dallas World Aquarium. Prodded and dared by some of his mischevious friends, Michener proved his worth and plucked out a fish and swallowed it whole and, thus, Fishboy was born. Years later and with the addition of a few bandmembers, his former solo project has grown into an indie-pop foursome that calls Denton, TX their home. Whenever I've read anything about Fishboy they've been categorized as indie-pop but don't fear punk rockers, I hear a whole lot of Dead Milkmen and Atom and His Package in these guys. It's nice to come across a band that genuinely makes you laugh and enjoy life. Fishboy does that and more. Upon first listen, Fishboy reminds me of bands like The Dead Milkmen and old Flaming Lips. Then after a coupla more listens I was completely sucked into the crazy world that is Fishboy. I guess you could call it Fantasy/Comedy/Lo-Fi/Rock/Othe r/Thing music.
