Hey Kiddos, A fellow Denver band, Flashbulb Fires , is releasing an album come mid-May. They let me listen to their album a few weeks ago, and I have to say it's rather good. Even on the first listen, their integrity and professionalism shines through. These guys really believe in what they're doing. It was more relaxed than I had expected, but just as genuine as I'd hoped. You can stream both their newest and what appears to be their first record over at their website , but here's a track [...]

Photo by Eric Gruneisen Who knew listening to music could be so draining (wow, that comes out douchey, but you get the point)? Today, I'm recovering from four day's straight of music, starting with Fleet Foxes Thursday night. Friday through Sunday, I got to hear a whole slew of bands at Denver's Underground Music Showcase. I think I ran the gamut genre-wise (with the notable exception of not seeing one hip hop show unfortunately). I'm drained but had a great time this past weekend. So as I recover, I wanted to highlight some of the highlights [...]

Flashbulb Fires ' performance at the Curious Theatre was a perfect start to this year's Westword Music Showcase. The dreamy orchestrations of each song eased us into the early afternoon, before building up to full energy levels. The theater hadn't yet filled by 12:15 when the band took the stage, but the concertgoers I talked to who wandered in late were captivated by the songs they did manage to hear. You can still vote for Flashbulb Fires on the showcase ballot under the Indie Pop category...but hurry, the voting deadline is tomorrow! [...]
Flashbulb Fires: "Ambulance" I'm not usually a fan of sprawling pop, but Denver's Flashbulb Fires takes pensive melodies and extends them to their farthest ends but with a dash of Americana as if Coldplay got serious about analyzing Jeff Tweedy. Their new album Glory is out now. The whole thing is worth it just for the opener "Pyramid Schemes." The Southeast dates are below, including a stop in Nashville for the 7th Anniversary of Rocketown... [...]

[ download ] [tweetmeme] After releasing a pair of EPs over the past two years, Denver, Colorado's Flashbulb Fires are ready to unleash their debut full-length, Glory , on December 15th. The album, which was recorded this past winter in a home the quartet converted into a studio, is both intimate and ornate, its ambitious arrangements engilding simple, beautiful melodies. Upon Glory 's release, the band will embark on a tour of the midwest and southwest to introduce new fans to their bold, idiosyncratic [...]
