The Preatures are from Sydney, Australia. Led by Isabella Manfredi and Gideon Bensen on vocals, Jack Moffitt (lead guitar), Tom Champion (bass) and Luke Davidson (drums) they formed in early 2010, after meeting at The Lansdowne Hotel in Sydney. This is the lead single from their upcoming second EP, set for release later this year. This is just so cool, it makes you want to get out your Fleetwood Mac vinyl, and skip work. Stevie Nicks has spent years sorting through the tangled history of her affairs with bandmates Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood. With "Beautiful Child," however, she was talking about someone else. The coming-of-age song, part of Fleetwood Mac's sprawling 1979 effort Tusk, actually focuses on a brief fling that Nicks says she had with Derek Taylor, the late road manager and [...]

Fleetwood Mac are restless. After dozens of songs, albums, tours, and RIAA certifications, you’d think they would’ve reached a point of satisfied complacency, like when a star athlete hits the twilight of his or her career and admits, “I’ve done it all it's time to retire.” Maybe Fleetwood Mac did, in fact, reach such a point after 2003’s Say You Will . The band announced an indefinite hiatus — its members diverting their concentration to their personal lives and solo endeavors. The Mac’s future was in question… But if Michael Jordan wearing a Washington Wizards jersey [...]
Looking back, it seemed preordained. Stevie Nicks had met Dave Stewart years ago, and had a good feeling about him. "Maybe," Stevie Nicks says toward the end of the film In Your Dreams, "this played out for a reason." That, of course, hadn't always been so clear. The rock-umentary (arriving exclusively today on iTunes) begins, as these often things do, [...]

Note: For weekend one's coverage, which included write ups for Billy Joel, Dr. John, Dave Matthews Band, et al., click here . With all the great music during New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival , it’s good to be reminded that before the Internet, personal computer, television, radio, or even telecommunications as a whole, the city was America’s 19th- and early 20th-century capital for culture. Blues from the rural South funneled into the bustling port city. Improvisation combined with African rhythms and blue notes would turn that blues into jazz. The zeitgeist would flee to [...]
This time last year, Mick Fleetwood was openly grousing in the press, saying Fleetwood Mac was ready to reunite - but they were waiting on Stevie Nicks. Now that they're back together, she makes no apologies. Nicks, in fact, decided to give a second year of touring 20112s solo effort In Your Dreams, a Dave Stewart-produced disc that arrived 30 [...]

Hoaxes: We've all fallen for them at one point or another. As technology gets smarter, society moves faster, and the industry burns brighter, substantial facts take up a volley of time that few souls ever embrace. Double checking, for many, is consulting another site or Twitter handle; the thread to sources short, thin, and likely intangible. For the entertainment industry, hoaxes have always existed - after all, everyone wants a good laugh. Rather, they've grown more complicated and harder to distinguish, which means countless troublemakers are cackling these days. Consequence of Sound isn't [...]

Today deserves a little bounce in your step and a little smile in your heart. You've earned it. I believe that the outside tends to reflect what's going on inside, in several regards. When you treat your body badly, you look bad. Skin, hair, weight - these all suffer. I think the same thing happens when the world is doing badly. The weather gets bad, the general disposition of the public is depressed. So I've been excited all week about this beautiful weather in New York. Hopefully, it means that we're doing okay for a little at least. [...]

Baby, you're a Beatles fan: The monthly readers poll for April 2013 is dominated by Fab Four-related stuff - though, ultimately, Deep Purple's terrific new effort topped the newest Something Else! list. A concert souvenir from Ringo Starr's latest guest-packed edition of his All-Starr band charted highest among the Beatles stuff last month, as the ever-affable drummer was joined by [...]
No, you didn't read that wrong. Fleetwood Mac is actually back with new material for the first time in ten years and no one can be disappointed about it. They quietly released it on iTunes earlier today and is actually a strong EP for only being fifteen minutes long. However, they could've come up with a better title than "Extended Play" but they're old so they get a pass. In related news: Steely Dan just announced a summer tour. Here's what Lindsey had to say about the project: "It's still evolving, and [...]
