While we first fell in love with Lissie's brand of soulful, sun-baked folk-rock all the way back in December of 2009 , the singer-songwriter seemed to really grab people's attention with a series of diverse and radically rearranged cover songs from the likes of Kid Cudi, Metallica and Lady Gaga. Last week, Lissie released the six-song EP, Covered Up With Flowers via Fat Possum, and dropped the video for her slow burner take on the Fleetwood Mac break up classic - Go Your Own Way. [...]

Among other things, Lissie produces a truly prodigious amount of excellent music covers. Out this week is the video for her cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way," which featured on her most recent EP: Covered Up With Flowers . The video is actually a live recording, featuring a somewhat more "slick" visual style than the sessions that brought us her previous releases of " Bad Romance " and " Nothing Else Matters ." Even so, it's a lovely way to start a Friday morning. Check it out: [...]

I have an affinity for cooking. I also have an affinity for music. Appropriately enough, I have an affinity for cooking and listening to music at the same time. Crazy, right? (One of the reasons we love Turntable Kitchen here at Indie Shuffle!) For today's Friday 5, I am compiling a list of songs (from preferred albums) that I enjoy listening to while cooking, though it was so difficult limiting this list to just five songs. The list is random, which nicely compliments the the random cuisines I tend to enjoy. [...]
O cover [...]

A PICTURE..... A SONG.... MP3: The Cure - Love Song A POEM (WITH A DIFFERENCE).... You're always on my mind, Ever since we met. You're always in my thoughts, Impossible to forget. You're always in my heart, Which puts me in your debt. You're always in [...]

When it came about that Dave Grohl was working on a sitcom for FX , we asked if there was anything he can't do. As if winning five Grammys didn't prove there in fact isn't, the recent trailer for his upcoming Sound City documentary seals it. The fact that the Foo Fighters frontman filmed a doc about the famed and now defunct eponymous L.A. recording studio of the title is intriguing, but the list of names contributing to the project is the real kicker. According the the recently revealed [...]

As homages go, well ... this is homage. Thirty-five years ago today, Fleetwood Mac released an album called "Rumours," which turned out pretty well for them. To mark the anniversary, NYC-based duo Mirabelle — the project of singer-songwriter Michelle Hotaling and producer Scott Slater — today released "Crystal Revisions," a syrupy seven-track paean to the music of Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham. How much you like "Revisions" will largely depend on how you feel about covers in general, and this collection, however well-intentioned, sends me scurrying back to the original. It's available for name-your-price on Bandcamp . [...]

Photo of the album cover by G. Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. Released February 4, 1977 Happy 35th anniversary to one of the greatest albums of all time, Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours." If you only know the music (and not the back story) of Fleetwood Mac, you are missing out on one of the most intense Rock and Roll stories of all time about one of the most dysfunctional bands in history. Fleetwood Mac, a British Rock/Blues band was enjoying success in the late 60s when several [...]
Fleetwood Mac is perhaps the most distinct and musically diverse bands around. What started out as a British blues band headed by drummer Mick Fleetwood and lead singer/guitarist Peter Green bec... Continue reading "Blue Letter: The 10 Best Fleetwood Mac Deep Tracks" >

Tonight is the last night of my winter break. As you read this I will be sitting in my first class of the Spring 2012 semester. I have spent the last few weeks listening to a variety of different music which I will be sharing in the weeks to come and drinking a little more than I probably should but having a fabulous time... I was at the bar the other night and this song shuffled on the jukebox. Reminding me just how good Fleetwood Mac is. Never Going Back [...]

Ourselves, along with Hit City U.S.A., couldn't be more excited for our show this Saturday at The Satellite featuring some of our favorite bands, PAPA , Cillie Barnes, and Lesands. Like any girl that's worth "rounding the bases for", it's always better to get to know them before you reach home plate. Of course these bands are all amazing, but falling in love is all about the details. So take some time and get to know each of these acts on a more intimate level. Here are 5 things you NEED to know about 3 bands you [...]

Today I've got men on my mind. Now get yours out of the gutter. All of them are fully clothed -- and singing. Nearly three months ago, I wrote a post titled "Five Great Songs By Five Great Female Singers That Should Have Gone to No. 1," and doesn't it figure? Musically speaking, I'm always dwelling on the creative and performing virtues of the fairer sex. I guess I'm gay like that. There must be some microchip hidden in the brains of gay men that makes us respond more readily to women -- female pop stars, actresses, style [...]
