For New Years Eve in New York City, you always have a ton of options. If you want to avoid paying over $100 a head for a limited open bar and finger foods, you should consider going to a concert. If you're not a Phish phan (sorry, had to do it), you should head over to the Bowery Electric ( tix ) to see New York City garage rock veterans the Fleshtones headline a special New Year's Eve rock show. In...

Kelis is back in the studio and, we are afraid to report, she is not on the right direction. Following Fleshtone, Kelis has gone back to the sound of her previous works with midtempo R&B. We'd much rather have a straight-up dance album from her. Anyway, click below for yourself to decide for yourself. Bowery Electric: CBGB's Exile X-Mas Jahn Xavier with Lenny Kaye, and Tish & Snooky Here's a very special Christmas Playlist treat straight from DJ Tone . Once upon a time there was a little club called CBGB's OMFUG which was owned and operated by Hilly Kristal. He developed a home where a legacy of bands that defined NYC's underground music from The Ramones, Blondie to the The Patti Smith Group could perform. Every month these wayard punks that defined an era of music get together once a month. Punks in Exile from that [...]
The Fleshtones - "Bite of My Soul" New York garage legends The Fleshtones head to The Knockout for two nights of rock and roll at The Knockout on December 8th and 9th. The band's latest album, Brooklyn Sound Solution , has maybe one of the great Beatles covers of all time, a raucous version of "Day Tripper." Dig that below: Related Posts: Live This Month: [...]

Now that I have a great turntable and pre-amp, I've been visiting the archives to see which albums and singles deserve to be re-recorded and re-posted. Obviously, the soundtrack to Urgh! A Music War was one of the first on the list. These new recordings sound light-years better than my last attempt, and I highly recommended you download them even if you have an older copy I posted. I've talked about Urgh! several times over, so I'll keep the intro brief. It's an amazing document of a time period in music, when the punk [...]
Marty Thau is one of punk rock's living legends. Possibly best known as the founder of Red Star Records and former manager of The New York Dolls, throughout his storied career he's worked with an array of pivotal punk, garage, and new wave bands including The Real Kids, Suicide, The Fleshtones, Richard Hell, The Ramones, and Blondie among others. Needless to say, when Thau offered Rocker the chance to publish an excerpt from his memoir in progress "Keeping The Rock n' Roll Spirit Alive" we jumped at the chance. In this first of what [...]

Thursday, July 21, 2011 THE FLESHTONES , THE RIPOVS and EDGEWOOD 8PM. All Ages. The Ottobar . 2549 N. Howard St. Remington, Baltimore.
Featuring Lenny Kaye. Inderdaad, als je al vanaf eind jaren zeventig – goed - als The Fleshtones bezig bent en er zit weinig vooruitgang in je carrière dan moet je wat. Dit is erg negatief gedacht, want voor hetzelfde geld...
Nice weather is right around the corner. Know how I know? 'Cause so many bands are loading up their tour buses and vans and hitting the road. To which I say woo hoo! Some are doing club shows, others are gearing up larger venues including festivals (Hello Coachella and Sasquatch!), and there's something for everyone. Hopefully this list will inspire you to get off your couch and check out some of these bands live. We all need a little rock n' roll to make us feel good. If you have additions to the list [...]
[Birthday greetings today to Jason Mraz and KT Tunstall. Now for the daily dose ...] Top picks on the first of many busy Thursdays the rest of the summer: ► One national magazine calls Will Sheff "Dylan for the Facebook generation." Don't know about that, but his band Okkervil River has made another fine album, "I Am Very Far," and the band hits the Wiltern tonight, with Titus Andronicus and NewVillager opening. ► Alison Krauss & Union Station [...]
![Kelis- Flesh Tone [REVIEW]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3512326_lg.jpg)
There´s no doubt Kelis´ "Flesh Tone" was the best album of 2010, even though she didn´t get a Grammy for this excellent work. Last year we were all impressed with her new musical direction on this new record because she has always been a Hip Hop artist for years. "Flesh Tone" is a mixture of electronic sounds, believe it or not Kelis transformed her garage into a music studio, which later she named it Casa de Kelis. Another great thing to mention [...]

So, check out Les Elite, Ocean Colour Scene, a new track from the Fleshtones and a long overdue and overlooked new track from Urge Overkill. Peace and Guiness!
