Continue reading

Posted in Music Box J'aime beaucoup cette chanson / Fine Music Selection & Homemade Mixes.

While the idea of an extended club edit of Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al" may fill our heads with nightmarish images of lots of parents and grandparents embarrassingly getting jiggy with it on wedding reception dance floors, after pressing play on this remix of the classic Graceland chestnut by Australian duo Flight Facilities , yucky visions of giddy old folk gyrations aside, we can wholeheartedly admit to being thankful that this exists. "Al" has always been a long-favored go-to, as much for its big band/ [...]

This week's SMM features some delightful downtempo courtesy of Pierce Fulton and Troumaca, as well as an absorbing original from Goldroom . Per usual, SMM highlights the deeper, minimal side of house with a track from French Express's Jonas Rathsman. Rounding out this week's dose is the recently released seven minute adventure from Flight Facilities . If you missed any of last week's more remedial productions, make sure to check out Deadmau52s remastering of "Arcadia," Digitaria's new Hot Creations release Shine EP , and the Miguel Campbell and Maceo Plex remixes of Butch's "Highbeams." For [...]

This Saturday's "An Edit To Remember" is a superb rework from Australian duo, Flight Facilities of Paul Simon's classic "You Can Call Me Al". This edit was specially made for the second installment "1982-19923 of their decade mixes for Triple J Radio in Australia. As they said: "Such a great song. We couldn't find anyone who had made an edit that was both playable in a club, but kept the original in tact." In case you missed it, download the "82-923 mixtape here . Download [...]

Australian duo Flight Facilities have been unstoppable lately! They keep delivering quality music and more important of all, they have been supporting other producers by including their edits in their mixtapes. I'm talking about Tim Fuchs' edit of David Bowie's "Golden Years" (...listen/download here...) and Rocco Raimundo's edit for Lou Reed's "Walk On The Wild Side" (...listen/download here...) . About two weeks ago they also gave away a great edit of Walter Murphy's "A Fifth Of Beethoven" (...listen/download here...) . Today we're glad to share with you another freebie! This time the duo is [...]
Flight Facilities have just recently released a remix of Paul Simon's classic "You Can Call Me Al," which has been on every single playlist I've made since 1993. I remember hearing the song for the first time back in 1992 (when I was four years old) at a (vice) presidential rally for Al Gore (who had adopted the song as his official campaign song). I'm tho thuper therial about this remix, which breaks the songs beautifully layered sound down into pieces and reconstructs it into something impossibly groovy. The duo is planning on releasing the remix officially [...]

We're here! Another Tuesday and another Stoney Chart. Each week see's a different Stoney Roads writer share 10 tracks that they have been listening too throughout the week, new or old. If you have missed either of the first 2 weeks charts I seriously recommend you check them out! Week 1: Kish's Chart and Week 2: Sandro's Chart were full of awesome music. Toro Y Moi's "Say That" takes the cake as my favorite but there’s 19 other gems [...]
Silk by giselle rosselli Every now and then, an absolute gem of a track slips under the radar, and this is most defiantly the case with Giselle Roselli's 'Silk'. Giselle is perhaps most famous for her song with Flight Facilities, 'Crave You', which was in turn remixed beautifully by Adventure Club which propelled it into fame. Anyway, [...]
Sunday Morning Medicine is a feature from Dancing Astronaut dedicated to the mellower side of electronic music. We bring you our favorite therapeutic selections — old and new — in an attempt to alleviate the agonizing effects of a long weekend of partying. This week’s SMM features an eclectic mix of downtempo, deep house and disco favorites. We start off with Sweden’s rising bliss-house stars Monitor 66 with their new release “Follow You.” Then move into a Thyladomid take on the Chris Isaak's classic “Wicked Game.” We have yet another Flight Facilities masterpiece, this time a remix for Miike [...]
