I must apologize for the amount of time I spent transcribing this interview, but this found itself to be one of the most difficult transcriptions I have ever done and I contemplated not bothering. However, Little Brazil is a fantastic band and there were some really great answers provided in this interview that I couldn't allow it to just get buried. At this point, I'm sure you're wondering what happened. Little Brazil 's guitarist Greg Edds and I left the venue in search of a quiet spot to conduct [...]

[ via ] Music News Hypebot reports the latest study results on teen's relationship with music and piracy, this time from the UK. Ben Hewitt has a chat with FRS hero Peter Hook . "That was the wonderful thing about Joy Division. From its inception to its demise, we never earned a single penny. We started it broke and finished it broke. There were no arguments about publishing, no arguments about money. It was very straightforward. It [...]

Love these guys. Funky punkpoprocks of fun, Flowers Forever is a band not afraid to - nay, they're eager to - rub up against those spots that scrape you into discomfort or stir up fair-to-middling irritability. Surfing in the currents of the Conor Oberst family, Team Love , Flowers Forever is a side project of Omaha's Derek Pressnall, who is perhaps better known from his utterly adorable group, Tilly and the Wall . It's an aside, but GO HERE to see a killer Sesame Street ABC's Video from Tilly. No, I'm not [...]

Since their break in 2004 to pursue solo and other projects, Azure Ray is finally back with new music and tour dates . Saddle Creek's Azure Ray is comprised of Orenda Fink and Maria Taylor . During the off time, Fink worked on Art in Manila , O+S and solo projects. Taylor released three solo records. The new tour has recently started in Portland. After the tour wraps up [...]

In anticipation of their short summer jaunt leading the tap-dancing, glitter-loving Tilly and the Wall to Kansas, I got the chance to catch up with one of the boys (yes, one of the two boys in that band). Here's my interview with guitarist/vocalist Derek Pressnall : Derek Pressnall , Tilly and the Wall: What is this for? Bethany, PopWreckoning: A website, called PopWreckoning.com. DP: Haha, ok. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't on the radio or something. [...]

Here are some of the pics I took with my Palm Centro last night at the Black Lips show. Meant to bring my 'real' camera, but forgot it out the door. Though in the dimly lit Clubhouse , I'm sure it would not have mattered much. Flowers Forever Cool show all around - I was late for Earthmen & Strangers , rats, but openers Flowers Fowever rocked it out, with homespun songs about the beach and maybe the Rapture (not the band, [...]
Team Love on Conor Oberstin (Bright Eyes) ja Nate Krenkelin vuonna 2003 perustama indie-levymerkki, jolle ovat levyttäneet mm. Bright Eyes, Tilly and the Wall, Jenny Lewis, Gruff Rhys ja The Felice Brothers. Team Love on ilmeisesti onnistunut yrityksessään, sillä yhtiö on edelleen pystyssä, yhtyeet kertovat olevansa tyytyväisiä ja uusia julkaisuja tulee tasaiseen tahtiin. Viiden vuoden jälkeen ilmaisiin latauksiin liittyvää toimintaa [...]

Garage rock meets performance art any time a group like Black Lips come around. The same can be said for Omaha natives (and Team Love members) Flowers Forever . They're fronted by Derek Presnall, who you may recognize as one of the two boys in Tilly and the Wall. Flowers Forever craft a more psychedelic and disjointed brand of mid-60s pop songs, but it's fitting to see the group join Atlanta's wildest boys ever on their tour behind their latest, 200 Million Thousand . Both acts are sure to cause a sweaty, confusing mess wherever they [...]
What if there was a library where you never had to worry that somebody had already checked out what you wanted and there were no late fees? Now what if that library was filled with something like the catalog of indie label Team Love ? Sounds like a dream, but guess what?! It exists. Tuesday, Team Love Records launched their online library. Basically, they're letting you download artists for free and letting you keep them with no hidden deletion dates or anything sneaky like that. All you have to do to start [...]
Tilly and the Wall is the upbeat, colorful Omaha band everyone knows immediately because of their trademark tap-as-percussion sound. The band recently played some shows in the area and I had a chance to sit down with their star member and tap dancer, Jamie Pressnall, before their show at the Bowery Ballroom. Check [...]

We're off for our Summer Vacation...and not a moment too soon! I really feel like I need a rest...this is the first break I've had since last year's vacation...2 weeks off in a year. (Note to self: need to sort that!) Still, as my Wife reminds me....she works 52 weeks a year, 365 days, 24/7....Now I know why I didn't put in for that job!!! This will probably be the last holiday we take as a family. The kids are growing up and my daughter [...]

Chalk one up for the delightfully nerdy, because Devonte Hynes put on a highly entertaining show at Lee's Palace with his latest project, Lightspeed Champion . I'm only mildly familiar with his stuff, but I had read reviews and talked to friends about him, and I'll have to admit that my expectations were pretty high for the show. Thankfully, his performance was entirely up to par, as he played through a set of songs that I assume are mainly from his Falling Off The Lavender Bridge release. Besides the fact that his music is accessible [...]

Photo by Frank Yang Heading in to Wednesday night's show at the El Mocambo, I was wondering if maybe the buzz around Seattle's Fleet Foxes , which seemed omnipresent in my online circles over the past month or so, had been held up at the border because while there was some local press covering Portland-based headliners Blitzen Trapper leading up to the show, I was hearing nary a peep about the support act. I wasn't in time to catch local openers Fox Jaws but was pleasantly surprised to see [...]

Omaha, NE Just by looking at this picture, you can tell Flowers Forever enjoys putting on a good show. So much sweat too. They must really work it! "Black Rosary" Flowers Forever on MySpace Flowers Forever on The Hype Machine

I finally got the chance to give Flowers Forever a listen over this weekend and count me impressed. Derek Pressnal, who also plays guitar for indie pop tap-dancing group Tilly and the Wall, leads the Ohama, Nebraska-based collective. Derek claims that the he was inspired to make this album after mental breakdown where he had a series of visions and apparently saw the future. So it should be no surprise that this album has it's fair share of trippy, psychedelic moments. It's grounded enough though to provide some fantastic pop songs that don't sound to far attached from [...]
