I'm on my new hosting service! But stuff is still kind of on fire. That's why there's no logo at the top of the screen. Hopefully that will get worked out soon. Double hopefully now that everything is moved I can finally start getting that other site in a state where I can unveil it to the masses. I think it'll be relatively dope. ★★★☆☆ Aux Technology’s second fleet is brought to you in an armour-plated 18 wheeler of new breakbeats and bass, refusing to stop for anyone. Tech twitches bounce around like a bobblehead on a dashboard, spearing around corners despite carrying serious weight. While some fit a comfortable template of ‘future’ dance and widescreen voyaging through cold worlds and meteor showers, they also bear breaks’ same old problems of reaching for the same tools and working to the same spec, no matter how many extra cylinders it can fire on. It’s far from processional though. Fer [...]
I've been annoyed by something over the past few weeks, and I've continually debated with myself if it's something I wanted to bring up on this blog. But since I'm posting a video game soundtrack tonight, I figure that's enough of an excuse for me to go on a video game related rant of sorts. Fucking Mass Effect 3 . If you at all follow gaming news, you know what I'm going to talk about now. If not, a quick summary. Mass Effect 3 is a video game made by [...]
I think I only really like one of the songs in tonight's post. But what can I say? I'm a man of the people. And I'm certain that some people out there really want songs, so I'm happy to oblige. Are there any people out there who want to oblige me? ...wait, that sounded dirty. Let me start over. I'm working on a few articles at the moment, and I'm looking for some people to interview. Do you like video games? Do you like vinyl? Do you like video game soundtracks on [...]

It's nearly two years since I last posted this. It came out of a pile of records and I thought you should have a chance to have a listen again. Horse is a Scottish singer who was briefly famous and got remixed by Fluke. This is a bit dull, so read Drew's fascinating post about going to London with Horse here . The tune is a brilliant piece of progressive house from Fluke with relatively little of the standard indie rock original. Shame Horse didn't make more dance records. From the 1993 promo 123: [...]

After yesterday's unreleased Sabres track, a couple of Peel Session tracks that did get released, by Fluke - as The Peel Sessions. Fluke's Peel Session album was released in 1994 and features a selection of tracks from two live sessions (recorded 18 November 1990 and 10 December 1991). The tracks are mostly taken from the albums The Techno Rose of Blighty and Six Wheels On My Wagon . More on Fluke at a previous post here . Two tracks for you: The Allotment of Blighty, which is a rework of their Heresy [...]

It's December, it's cold in Toronto, but no snow yet.. kind of strange.. Even worse yet, I haven't given out a track in over two fucking weeks. I blame Santa, when's the last time you heard of anyone givin him a hard time for giving everything away for free, fat red nosed fuck. Well I got something for Rudolf, two homegrown mixtapes. The first from Lucy'lo, but you can call him Jay'lo... and the next, fresh off the shelf from Fluke. Tell me I haven't posted in a while and I tell you to go request yourself. THIS [...]

To complete our trawl through progressive house pioneers Fluke's 1990s journey. It was one which saw them lose an original member at the end of it. I've got two untypical mixes and a some indie/rock remixes. From One Little Indian's Fluke summary: 1993 - Fluke complete their full-length second album Six Wheels On My Wagon ("it felt quite grown-up"), which spawns the pivotal progressive house singles Slid, Groovy Feeling and Electric Guitar. Sasha likes Slid so much he weaves together three mixes of it on his [...]

I could post loads of stuff about progressive house innovators Fluke but I shall limit myself to two further posts. This one covers early albums "The Techno Rose of Blighty" and "Out (In Essence)". From their One Little Indian biog: 1990 - The Balearic hit Philly introduces Fluke’s acclaimed debut mini-album, Techno Rose Of Blighty. They do their first remix, Talk Talk’s Life’s What You Make It. In an era of big-lunged divas, Jon Fugler’s charismatic, stream-of-consciousness vocal style is a unique proposition. Jon: "There were enough people [...]

Some lovely balearic / progressive house from Fluke, who have been around since 1988's summer of love and following the Fluke remixes of Horse from a few days ago. Formed in the late 1980's by three friends living together in London, Fluke started out making dreamy pop before the explosion of acid house influenced them. It was the growing electronica sound that influenced their early singles (Thumper, Joni, Slid) and their techno-rock debut album The Techno Rose Of Blighty (1991). They signed with Virgin for their next albums Six Wheels On [...]

Over at Across The Kitchen Table , Drew had a great story about going to see lost Scottish band Horse. That reminded me I had a couple of Fluke remixes of their 1993 single "Celebrate". Horse was both group and solo artist, named after the lead singer. She is still releasing music today. Of the Tube episode that Drew recounts, Horse says "Unbeknown to Horse and Angela [her writing partner] a friend George Cathro had sent a demo to the main researcher from the TUBE. February 87. This was [...]

I've got another track tonight from Mates of State , the indie-rock duo I've been hooked on for the last 6 months. Fluke can be found on the band's third album Team Boo , released in September of 2003. For all the other Mates of State fans out there, starting April 2nd the band will be co-headlining a North American tour with the indie-rock superstars Black Kids . Details on dates and locations can be found here . There are two Canadian dates currently scheduled. [...]
Dance acts, inherently, are one hit wonders. A club favourite becomes a chart hit and that's yer lot. Some, like Leftfield, Orbital, Faithless, The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy all seem to have gone "Bugger that", become a bona fide act on the back of albums and gone stratospheric, guaranteeing their place in the dance pantheon as dance masters. But what about the acts who also delivered so much but had their place so cruelly snatched away by the ravages of time. Bizarre Inc., Chicane and Underworld will just about scrape in, but here are three others, gone... but not [...]
A little bit of something for everyone...- Orange Juice had their biggest hit with Rip It Up. They had a totally unique style and sound - love the squelchy bass.- Burns is a young up and comer from the UK who has just remixed Empire Of The Sun as well as SIART faves Late of The Pier. Disko is his debut single.- The Mighy Underdogs are Lateef the Truth Speaker and Gift Of Gab alongside Headnodic

Some early Progressive House music, with even less information than normal. I have alsolutely no idea who EBH is/was. There was only a single release on Pandephonium records in 1992. Pandephonium was a seminal early-90's progressive house label which was home to some early releases from the likes of Fluke and Justin Robertson. And this release has Fluke remixes. Anyway, I know you didn't come here for the writing, so let's get on with the tunes. EBH - Chocolate Coated Money (Mix 1) [...]

Surfin' the zeitgeist with my homies! Woooo! ...which is why I need your help in getting my old lady's car out of here. I'll pay you ten bucks. Making the Wu-Tang Clan look like The Lettermen...
