Aux Technologys second fleet is brought to you in an armour-plated 18 wheeler of new breakbeats and bass, refusing to stop for anyone. Tech twitches bounce around like a bobblehead on a dashboard, spearing around corners despite carrying serious weight. While some fit a comfortable template of future dance and widescreen voyaging through cold worlds and meteor showers, they also bear breaks same old problems of reaching for the same tools and working to the same spec, no matter how many extra cylinders it can fire on. It's nearly two years since I last posted this. It came out of a pile of records and I thought you should have a chance to have a listen again. Horse is a Scottish singer who was briefly famous and got remixed by Fluke. This is a bit dull, so read Drew's fascinating post about going to London with Horse here . The tune is a brilliant piece of progressive house from Fluke with relatively little of the standard indie rock original. Shame Horse didn't make more dance records. Some lovely balearic / progressive house from Fluke, who have been around since 1988's summer of love and following the Fluke remixes of Horse from a few days ago. Formed in the late 1980's by three friends living together in London, Fluke started out making dreamy pop before the explosion of acid house influenced them. It was the growing electronica sound that influenced their early singles (Thumper, Joni, Slid) and their techno-rock debut album The Techno Rose Of Blighty (1991). Over at Across The Kitchen Table , Drew had a great story about going to see lost Scottish band Horse. That reminded me I had a couple of Fluke remixes of their 1993 single "Celebrate". Horse was both group and solo artist, named after the lead singer. She is still releasing music today. I've got another track tonight from Mates of State , the indie-rock duo I've been hooked on for the last 6 months. Fluke can be found on the band's third album Team Boo , released in September of 2003. Dance acts, inherently, are one hit wonders. A club favourite becomes a chart hit and that's yer lot. Some, like Leftfield, Orbital, Faithless, The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy all seem to have gone "Bugger that", become a bona fide act on the back of albums and gone stratospheric, guaranteeing their place in the dance pantheon as dance masters.
