Sunday, cruddy Sunday. Many of you have to return to work tomorrow. I'm sorry. Some of you worked all weekend like I did. I'm sorry. Some of you are out of work and don't even know what day of the week or month it is. Uh...I'd say I'm sorry, but I'm actually kind of jealous. Killdozer is playing here tonight. I've been counting down the days since I read about their mini US tour on the Electrical Audio forum. Hopefully they'll play a good set and fill me with great joy. Slower. Louder. Louder! Slower! [...]

What the shit is this ? The New York Times Magazine has broken down four of the hottest current "indie" bands by their individual fashion styles. I think it's absolutely sickening. If reading something like this doesn't make you rethink your dreams of being a musician, I don't know how more clearly you can be shown the being labeled with a word like "indie" should be taken as an insult. This stylized magazine spread, with its comparisons between different artists and fashion designers, is further proof that this scene isn't so cutting edge anymore. In fact it's [...]

Why am I so, so tired? As I write this I have just awoken from a mini-slumber. Earlier tonight I tried watching The Polar Express with Nicci to officially usher in the Christmas season, but unfortunately I could not keep my eyes open, and missed the majority of the animated holiday magic. Not only that, I decided to venture up to the garage with Ilya and others for a brief session, completely shirking my mix tape duties, so this has all been thrown together with alarming speed. Hopefully it doesn't totally suck, you'll understand my somnolence, and give [...]
I'm trying something new this week. Most of the readers who choose to e-mail me do so to complain about how I do not offer the Sunday Mix Tape as a cohesive downloadable file. Well, today is your lucky day, valued reader -- it's taken me 87 weeks, but your prayers have been answered. As of today, I'm going to start making compressed archives of the compilations available for you. Maybe now you can tell your friends about this website, and we can start to grow together. As friends. And lovers. I hope your weekends were fun and [...]

News Flash: Everyone you know is listening to Harry Nilsson. They've always loved Harry Nilsson, didn't you know that? Except that coconut song, yeah, they think that one's pretty lame. Also, they're thinking about recording a note-for-note cover of a full Nilsson album, too. Just sayin. Anyway... Totally on a whim, I swung by the Manishevitz Myspace , and lo and behold, I discovered that there are 4 new songs from an as-yet unannounced new album posted there! "Cin Sky" is the totally awesome one, go [...]

We here a RSTB dropped a hint of this record a while back and now through the generous people at Soft Abuse it has appeared on our desks and in our computers. Flying Canyon is the collective force of Cayce Lindner, Glenn Donaldson and Shayde Sartin with a little help from Skygreen Leopard Donnovan Quinn. Now admittedly Donaldson is a RSTB favorite and an incredible songwriter who usually contributes the brightest moments on any release he's involved in; but this is definitely Cayce's record and he owns it as such. His voice is affected and weathered from a [...]
