Flying Foxes - 'Napoleon' ( mp3 ) Flying Foxes - 'Everything Will Change' ( mp3 ) Everything is better when it's free, that's a scientific fact. The Flying Foxes debut was probably going to be pretty good anyway, but by the aforementioned logic my appreciation for it has been heightened by roughly 20% since you can get your dirty mouse-clicking mits on that shit for free from their website right now. Yup. They're calling February 'Free Album Month' or something, which would suggest that you have 28 days (well, only [...]
Im kinda short on time so ill make this fast and painless. Hopetoun was full, Tim Derricourt was lurking near the door, Deep Sea Arcade got nervous and Flying Foxes were solid. Soundboard guy had an off night - DSA's vocalist was very lost in the mix, and he's very much the focal point of the band. The Foxes led with their strong arm, kicking off with Lost In Low Cloud, and were quite consistent, with stage presence in spades compared to DSA. However most of this seemed to come from the bass player, who dominated, and he [...]

Flying Foxes have immense potential. They write great little pop songs that are full of energy and have delightful hooks. That's why it's so disappointing to see them wasting this potential away. You see, their recorded material is filled with a variety of interesting sounds. At times it will be a subtle keyboard riff or perhaps the chiming of a glockenspiel or triangle, but whatever these sounds might be, they're there and they really help to flesh out their music. But when they play live, they lack this. They play as a three-piece which only leaves room for bass, [...]

I've scoured our inbox for lovely mp3s to deliver straight into your outstretched hands, free and legally. (Some of the stuff is near and dear, some of we haven't heard at all till this week. But I will admit there is a fair bias towards tambourines and plinky-plonky pianos. We are such the sucker for those.) Orouni - Panic at the Beehive Check out Orouni on MySpace . Rachael Yamagata - 2000 Light Years From Home [...]

I really don't post as much indie stuff as I should. You all, or as Panda Toes Greg would say, "ya'll" be thinking that I don't leave Ableton. Well I do I just haven't had much reason too of late, until now. The Flying Foxes are out of Sydney which great because it's been a while since I've had some local guitar in my life. Without being all hyperbole whilst expressing my adoration for this baby, I'm going to tell you that I really dig it. [...]
