I've never really watched Adventure Time before and I pretty much suck for that, especially considering how many of us at Potholes swear by it. That said, in an episode this week Flying Lotus made a contribution for the closing credits and it's awesome. It only runs for about 30 seconds but anything the man puts out tends to be great and this is no different. Multi-personality, laptop musician, rapper, and DJ Flying Lotus announced today via Twitter that he had written a song for an episode of Cartoon Network's greatest cartoon (objectively speaking), Adventure Time. I haven't been able to escape Lapalux 's Flower this week, not that I'm complaining. First Flying Lotus Facebooked with news that Nostalchic ( Lapalux's new album ) is available to stream on Resident Advisor (it's coming out on FlyLo's Brainfeeder label) and then while looking for mixes to listen to at work , came across his FACT mix , which uses it alongside some other killer cuts including De La Soul, Chilly Gonzales and SWV. Comin' straight out of L.A., Azizi Gibson is one of the latest artists to get linked up with Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label which seems to be grow stronger and stronger with every new artist introduced. Azizi Gibson 's " Ghost in the Shell " layers rapid lyricism over a mellowed out wavy instrumental. It really captures the essence of LA Hip Hop. First time I heard this track, I could draw similarities to AK from The UnderAchievers which is interesting because they are labelmates but have no relation for this track. [...]

Flying Lotus & Herbie Hancock As mentioned , Flying Lotus is going on a tour this year which comes to NYC on May 5 at Terminal 5 for a show with Nigel Godrich's band, Ultraista , Thundercat (with live band), and En2ak . Tickets for that show are still available, but perhaps that won't be true for long because FlyLo has added another date happening at Terminal 5 on May 6 . That one's [...]

It would appear, after a few not too subtle hints, that Steve Ellison aka Flying Lotus is working on an album with jazz legend Herbie Hancock. A video posted on Vine shows the pair in the studio with Brainfeeder colleague, Thundercat. No further details have been announced. We’ll be sure to keep you posted.

In his new video for "The Killing Joke", Captain Murphy / Flying Lotus reverts back to his enigmatic beginnings, to a time when his identity was entirely speculation. Immersed in a dark, creepy atmosphere and tone, the video focuses on a white-eyed hooded figure interspersed with random footage. Check out the perfectly fitting clip above, and if you've yet to hear Murphy's debut mixtape DUALITY you can stream it here .

Not as surprising as it first sounds given that he's the great-nephew of John Coltrane, but Flying Lotus looks set to collaborate with jazz pianist Herbie Hancock . Fly Lo recently hinted at the team-up by posting a short video of the pair in the studio, along with long-term collaborator Thundercat . Back in December, Flying Lotus' Steven Ellison mentioned he was working on “some project I’m not allowed to talk about!” Could it be one with jazz great Herbie Hancock ? As FACT points out, Ellison recently tweeted a short video featuring himself, Hancock, and frequent FlyLo collaborator Thundercat in the studio. We'll keep you updated.

We have good reason to believe that Flying Lotus and Thundercat  are recording with jazz giant Herbie Hancock. Why do we think this? Well, FlyLo recently uploaded some footage of him and Thundercat (looking very excited to be) in the studio with Hancock. It's possible that he could be a guest on Thundercat's upcoming sophomore album, which he and FlyLo have been working on for the past few months.
