Phew, looks like Fol Chen didn't forget how to put on a horror show after all. The band thankfully released a remix of their uptempo (but still amazing) "Boys in the Woods" that is completely devoid of the original's chippiness and instead channels some downright eerie vibes. The stretched track is a testament how sparseness paired with frightening noises can make for a good extended scare. They still got it!
Our favourite LA avant-garde pop creators Fol Chen have teamed up with cassette label Kissability to release a cassette only remix of their track Boys in the Woods . The release coincides with the band's forthcoming European tour which includes a special date at The Shacklewell Arms in London on June 5th. All other dates are below the stream. The cassette is out June 3rd on limited edition [...]

Californian studio tinkerers Fol Chen have made a move toward pop tangibility on new album The False Alarms , and their new video for " I.O.U. " might be the most approachable thing they've ever done. After she appeared as an interstellar princess in the " 200 Words " video, singer Sinosa Loa as a flirty roller-disco siren, and director Chris Wilcha lets her glide across the dancefloor. Watch the video and download the song below. Read More...
The FOL CHEN got a rollerskating disco-themed video for her chilly new mp3, I.O.U. which aint a cover of that 1983 toon.

'The False Alarms' is the latest album from LA electronica outfit Fol Chen on Sufjan Steven's Asthmatic Kitty label. The band is something of a multi-disciplinary affair with various projects and activities including motion-based sound toys and art gallery performances. The electronica underpinning everything is never mere adornment for Sinosa Loa's subtle unaffected vocals. 'I.O.U.' unfurls like a solar array, packed with complex moving parts and individually shining pieces; the title track has a liquid bass line and banging, clattering beats: fulsome ingredients for some heart-racing adreno-rhythms; '200 Words' pairs droning brass with pulsing sonar; [...]
Fol Chen - A Tourist Town Fol Chen - You Took The Train These weirdos in Fol Chen are getting real good at perfecting their brand of sugary lullaby-esque pop with layers upon layers of glittery, quirky synth-beats and staggering stop-n-go changes. Hard to describe, guys - just remember that The False Alarms is half-n-half tracks of bubbling playfulness, and then about-face, straight into arrangements alternately icy and foreboding, with (all the while) sauntering, sexy vocals that [...]
Fol Chen "A Tourist Town" Fol Chen began messing around with dense, electronic pop with "Cable TV" on their debut album, and back then, it was kind of an outlier song for them. Now they're doing that stuff full time, and their third album, The False Alarms , is like 10 variations on that theme – a clinical deconstruction of Minneapolis funk and early Timbaland, with lyrics that present a fairly mundane existence in evocative detail. There's a few meta conceits here, and it works – there's always an implication that the music is an [...]
