Folklore is a mini-orchestra lead by veteran indie rocker Jimmy Hughes with musical roots in both Athens, GA and Philadelphia, PA. The band released two concept albums in 2007/08 and a new one in 2011 titled Home Church Road. Lyrically the songs are story based, but musically the band creates a landscape that is orchestrated in whichever direction the prose dictates using woodwinds, brass, strings, and more. Five hundred to be precise : A whole new world of magic animals, brave young princes and evil witches has come to light with the discovery of 500 new fairytales , which were locked away in an archive in Regensburg, Germany for over 150 years. The tales are part of a collection of myths, legends and fairytales, gathered by the local historian Franz Xaver von Schönwerth (1810–1886) in the Bavarian region of Oberpfalz at about the same time as the Grimm brothers were collecting the fairytales that have since charmed adults and children around the world.
Silence is a new film premiering at The Lighthouse Cinema during the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival at 8.45pm on Thursday 23rd February. Centering on a sound recordist who returns to Ireland for the first time in 15 years on a job to record landscapes free from man-made sound. Critically acclaimed artist, Lykke Li , is still on the campaign for her second album, Wounded Rhymes . The album is spewing another single out in time for Fall. This time around the track "Rich Kid Blues" is getting the release and its not a surprise as it is one of the better, more polished songs on the sophomore disc. For a concept album about a post-apocalyptic world, Home Church Road sure does have the erratic presence you'd expect. Folklore , not surprisingly, seems quite comfortable in the realm of folk songs.
