Yesterday saw the release of a new LP from Los Angeles noise rock quartet Foot Village, which is out via Northern Spy. Titled Make Memories , the record is also available to stream in full above via the band's SoundCloud. In describing Foot Village, noise rock is an accurate term only in a literal sense rather than a historical one. The band bears little resemblance to bands like Sonic Youth, Big Black, or The Jesus Lizard, instead forgoing much of the tonal basis which underlies the music of those bands. Turbine is Scott Thiessen (of rRope ) and David Barrett (of The Vienna Noise Choir ). For over two decades, they have been "tending to a garden of electronics and noise guitar". There's been so much buzz surrounding the new Justin Timberlake record (pictured) that we almost thought it was already released LAST week, but we checked the date to make sure that it's still scheduled for this Tuesday. Truth is Foot Village haven’t always been an easy band to listen to – they are, after all, packing 4, free-spirited drummers who revel in crash landing their adventurous art form upon the uninitiated. Yet with Make Memories the group seem to have side-shifted the relentless warfare of previous records – giving them moments of space and time so they can take stock of what is actually going down right outside their own front door. Clipping drops a remix of the Foot Village track "This Song Is A Drug Deal," which is a strange track for anyone to remix-much less Clipping. However, with their new full-length, Midcity , Clipping hasn't exactly proven itself to a bastion of traditionalism. Rather, the trio combines harsh noise and hip hop in a pretty unique way. "Unique" is a word that can be applied to this Foot Village remix, too. Clipping chops and twists the band's extremely rhythmic sound to create a noisy foundation for Daveed Diggs' dark, grimy lyrics. Enjoy! [...]
