Tweet How about this for timing eh? Summer has officially begun, because Wimbledon is on the telly and all the supermarkets have emptied of Robinson's Lemon Barley Water. Pity the current characters on Centre Court are about as diluted as that classic ball boy refreshing device. Anyway, 'Wimbledon's appearance here is purely coincidental to anything happening in London for it was only the other day that James Vehslage, of disbanded Austin shoegazers For Those Who Know, got in touch. Seems the group had an album in [...]

It's definitely a little sad to receive an email promoting an album by a band that has already broken up. Such as the case when I recently received an email about Austin, Texas psychedelic shoegaze four-piece For Those Who Know. Apparently the band's self-titled EP was released back in 2005, and the tracks that make up their latest release, Pop Sickle , were intended for the follow up. Unfortunately, during the recording process the band struggled through fights between the band members, on-stage meltdowns and many of the other pitfalls that confront young bands before they decided to eventually [...]

T his next weekend is your chance to become a rollergirl! TARG , the Tornado Alley RollerGirls , are opening up for new members on 14 October at Miles Rollaway Rink on NW 36th in OKC at 4pm. I have several friends who have joined TARG and I'm extremely jealous. Starting out, I was based in the live music capital of the world, Austin, Texas. There is a band worth checking out every night, from the big names playing Emo's or Stubb's to the locals cutting their teeth at The Parish or Mohawk. Here are some the best that I had to pleasure to notice. Most people know Spoon and Voxtrot . They are the darlings of the Austin indie scene. Instrumental sensations Explosions in the Sky are opening for Smashing Pumpkins. Okkervil River [...]
It honestly came as a complete surprise when we found our blog listed on several other websites as being shoegaze-related. Don't get me wrong, it is very much appreciated. It just got us thinking that it might be a good idea to go back and sort through our posts and figure out how we earned this particular distinction. After spending some time listening and falling in love all

Sorry for the lack of posts from me but i've been pretty busy as of late. I'm currently adjusting to a new schedule with classes starting and my work place. Anywho, the regular features here will still continue and i'll probably get back to regular posting this week but if not then at least you know what's going on. Enjoy these random tracks! Shuffling these songs is pretty fun, as the list
Of late I haven’t been able to shift my focus from Austin, Texas. Not because of SXSW, that isn’t for at least another 6 months. It just seems that there is remarkable crop of new bands appearing over the brow of the hill from that part of the world. Not your average spotlight-hogging indie types either, sure there is a tad shoegazing going on but for most part a well conceived talent is the
We would like to introduce you to For Those Who Know . When we kicked back, threw on the headphones, and listened to this artist we thought "Drones of subdued melodies gathering in a dark yet comforting corner." What did you think? In case you didn’t already know, Austin is churning out some damn good music right now. Yeah, yeah, it’s the live music capitol of the world. But bands like the Real Heroes , Oh No! Oh My! , and For Those Who Know are playing the kind of music that pushes you to the edge of your seat in anticipation. You can’t wait to hear what they do next.Drummer James Vehslage sent me a link to their self-titled debut EP and it’s shoegazer pop at it’s finest. Fans of My Bloody [...]
Ok, it has been awhile since I have done a Shoegaze Fetish series post. And I am way due. The picture above describes better on how long it really has been. So, here are five new indie shoegaze bands just waiting for you to hear what they have to say. Enjoy! This Austin, Texas quartet play a nice blend of post punk, psychedelia with splashes of shoegaze. I really like what I hear and wish I

Well... I'm quite busy today offloading files to ezarchive to relieve some of the pressure from the massive increase we've had in traffic. So, I'm doing a re-run post that many of you probably never got to read in the first place, because it was written when the site only had about 1000 unique visitors (we now have almost 40,000.. yay!). Enjoy! Every so often a throw-back to a previous era is refreshing... or at the very least comforting. Some of us [...]
