A typical hip hop team might save two EP's worth of material for one big exploitative piece. But, The Forcefield Kids are far from typical. They have an agenda and they stick to it. That is why their second EP, this year, Harmony & Discord was absolutely necessary. It is obviously too dark to fit the agenda of their prior release, Home . But, Newcastle's finest duo have not lost their ability to drop flows with a shock and awe mentality. [...]
I am SORRY. The last couple months have been crazy since I moved back to school, and because of that I've had less time for checking the blog e-mail. I've gotten tons of talented people sending me shit, and I haven't had the time to post a good portion of it. This is my making like Little Boots and remedying this shitty situation. Here's thirteen artists I've really enjoyed from my e-mail, listed from oldest to newest. Disclaimer: All of these artists deserve far longer write-ups; these accumulation posts won't be happening often if [...]

*UPDATE * The Forcefield Kids ( Issue #5 ) - Hip-Hop / Alternative / Electronica / Northeast, UK Due out November 2nd, the Forcefield Kids (Stain(ed) Art bringing the raps and Sleepy on beats) are releasing a new 5-track EP Harmony & Discord . Their socially-conscious delivery, sounding current with, and better than much of what's out there in the genre, in my opinion, modern hip-hop/rap, while retaining a distinct Britishness and blending it all together in a chill, lo-fi electronic atmosphere. "No Signal" [...]

The Forcefield Kids are set to release 'Harmony & Discord' EP (DFNT Records). This is the second release by The Forcefield Kids and is the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut, Home EP. This record shows a shift towards a more jazzy, bass driven sound whilst still keeping the lo-fi and alternative rock stylings of the first EP. Both EPs will serve as the basis for the as yet unnamed album slated for release early next year. The [...]

I'm cheap. I love my local record shops ( Blue Arrow for used stuff, Music Saves for new), but every now and again, I tap the internet for vinyl to save a couple of bucks. (I'm a vinyl neophyte, as Mrs. Citizen hit me with a turntable for my birthday a mere two months ago, but my record collection is growing. Stop by for Radiohead and The Who if you're in the neighborhood.) I ordered Dark Side of the Moon from Amazon, used, for four dollars. Six with the shipping. I can't do better than [...]

"...jazzy, bass driven... lo-fi and alternative rock stylings" - possibly. What is definite is that The Forcefield Kids do things their way whilst factoring in a load of musical influences. 'Harmony & Discord' is a depressing, emo-ish affair (the first track is called 'Razorblades' for crying out loud!) - if you want a laugh or a dance, don't reach for this. However, if you do need someone to empathise with your gloom then The Forcefield Kids are there for you - especially if you've just split broken up with a partner; pretty much the whole EP [...]

Newcastle is a town known for many things. A fine thick lager would be the obvious. But, hip hop probably wouldn't cross an outsider's mind when envisioning fields of green and cheerful soccer games pouring through two-story flats. Enter The Forcefield Kids with their soulful and spiritual flows over great seizures of digitized utopia. Their debut release, Home EP , is a fine example of the relevant fact that these brilliant British rhyme-smiths know hip hop, and they deserve their place in all it's glamour. For [...]

The Forcefield Kids are not your stereotypical Hip-Hop collaboration. Smooth generated rhymes, delicately placed on a lyrical bed of urban beats with razor sharp glances to the suburbs. Ideals based loosely on thought provoking regional style and some seriously major Hip-Hop influences. "The Forcefield Kids is a collaboration between two Newcastle based musicians, rapper/writer Stain(ed) Art and deejay/producer Sleepy. Combined, they've been making forward thinking, genre breaking music for nearly two decades. Pulling together to deliver a sound characterised by poetic lyrical landscapes and lush lofi instrumentals. Due to release an EP on their [...]

( Editor's Note: Today in the C.D. Singles Club, we've got our first b-side. We recognize that our electronic Singles Club is not real and, as such, doesn't really have "records" or "b-sides" or any other sort of tangible, physical artifact. We don't care; we're living the dream. Leave us alone or humor us. Your call.) The Forcefield Kids are a kind of hard to pin down "hip hop" duo from Newcastle, England. I put the "hip hop" inside of the quotes because the tunes on their upcoming Home [...]

I've had this strange urge to visit England recently. Maybe it's because I have family there I could stay with for cheap, maybe it's because I really want one of their accents. Regardless, the country has been on my brain lately. Newcastle alt hip-hoppers The Forcefield Kids are finally ready to release the Home EP, and on first listen it's well worth the wait. Their style is dark and dingy, beats sounding like they're emanating from a deep well. Stain's flow is sharp throughout. FK appear to be making a conscious effort to separate themselves from [...]

A Hervé track is like manna from heaven for me. He's a great balance between electronic music and rock sensibilities... he's a trailblazer for a new "anything goes" generation of clubbers... he's kind and down to earth... and his music is always awesome even though he's more prolific than two rabbits when it comes to making tracks! This is why I'm even more surprised that it took me this long to post this. See, around the time my dearest Anna sent this to me... I was so depressed I couldn't even really [...]

So here comes another song which I got in an email. They actually had sent me another song but when I looked into them I really dug this other song so I asked for it and now I bring it to you. The Forcefield Kids is a collabo of two Newcastle based musicians, rapper/writer Stain(ed) Art and deejay/producer Sleepy. They are due to release an EP sometime this summer, most likely around July. What first really got my attention was the beat they rapped over. It was something that really gets me into these [...]
