Hello, friends. I hope your weekends were eventful and fun. Mine was the exact opposite. I caught a cold for the first time in almost a year (see what happens when i stop running four days a week and eating healthy?), so I stayed in and recuperated. This led to watching a number of movies [...]

Words by Rick Moslen I strolled through Pittsburgh on my lunch break with the raw gust of Dope Body 's album rupturing my headphones. Suddenly, as I passed this open plaza, a young flash mob birthed from the bushes and came to life. I'm not kidding—it was just like all those YouTube clips. So, I mean, you can't just walk away from a flash mob, so I joined the fascinated businessmen, police officers, and soccer moms to watch the students' synchronized dance moves—but didn't turn off the Dope Body. Like some mad scientist [...]

The second edition of Sidestand's Control ALT Delete series of gigs saw performances by local acts Artificial Red, Forcefield, The Riot Peddlers, The Lightyears Explode, Split and Sridhar/Thayil. It also featured a surprise performance by Zero. B69, you beauty. By far Mumbai's grimiest venue, the suburban music hall played host to the second edition of Sidestand's Control ALT Delete series of gigs which lets fans pay what they want (you have to pay something ) to watch the buffet of bands on offer. About 200 scenesters showed up to sample newbies Artificial Red, Forcefield, [...]

Forcefield, Khiladi, The Riot Peddlers and Bhayanak Maut played B69, Mumbai on Wednesday, Nov 11. We were there. B69 in Andheri could soon become a scene-defining venue. With an entrance that reeks of piss and character, the suburban gigpad has recently started hosting gigs on weekends and on Wednesday, Nov 11 hosted the first in a series of Kill The Weekday gigs (organised by ennui.BOMB ). The venue's excellent sound setup, the presence of airconditioning, cheap beer, a threatening moshpit and some efficient performances all round made for a pretty solid debut of the franchise. [...]

Forcefield, Khiladi, The Riot Peddlers and Bhayanak Maut played B69, Mumbai on Thursday, November 11. New-ish Andheri venue B69 hosted the first of ennui.BOMB's (the peeps responsible for Stupid Ditties 4 ) 'Kill The Weekday' series of gigs. The venue saw about 200 kids show up for a free gig featuring the recently reformed punk act Forcefield, alt-metal act Khiladi , hardcore punk n00bs The Riot Peddlers and thrash metallers Bhayanak Maut . Forcefield is the project of Split guitarist Melroy D'Mello, Artificial [...]
Lots of good bands playing Force Field showcases during CMJ.
Forcefield (art collective that birthed Meerk Puffy) - "Roggabogga" MP3/download I know just a little about the legendary Forcefield collective and its ties to Fort Thunder, Load Records and Lightning Bolt, so little I didn't even know Meerk Puffy were a F-Field offshoot. It created a lot of confusion leading up to this review (it [...]
Total Slacker - "Crystal Necklace" MP3/download In the wake of Altered Zones do any non-Pitchfork blogs matter anymore? I hope so. Read me! Just compiled a new Top-10 - and yes, it had been awhile - and designated Mt. Eerie's great Live in Copenhagen triple-LP (with etching on Side 6) as Album of the Week [...]
I'll have a review up later - one that features press your luck, break dancing robots and Frank Zappa - but for now I want to get a contest up and running. Sunday night, Gus's Pub will play host to two terrific local bands - Cousins ( number 16 on our Best-of Canadian LPs list ) and The Establishment - will be sharing the stage with "legendary" French rockers, Force Fields . Force Fields - from what I've heard - offer up a solid slate on instrumental rockers, heavy on tempo changes and transitions. If you read [...]
