Fireside Chat Francesco Tristano Infiné, Deutsche Grammophon, Barcelona/Luxembourg Being dubbed classical music's next prodigal son might sound like a heavy load to us ordinary mortals, but Francesco Tristano Schlime carries it on his slight shoulders with the most amazing grace. A graduate of New York's prestigious Juilliard School, this Luxembourgian now residing in Barcelona has recorded several albums with compositions from Bach, Ravel and Prokofiev amongst others. It's his insatiable appetite for discovery and unique feeling for dancefloor sensibilities though, that have made him a staple [...]

Pic: ak47 Dva Damas - Brand New Head ( buy ) Don't think Dva Damas ' release on Downwards can be described any better than this: In essence this record draws a line between the attitudes and aesthetic of leather-jacketed 50s rockers, late 70s New York punks and 90s techno industrialists to end up in 2010 where it's everything, all at once. Downwards also just released Tropic Of Cancer's Be Brave , video below. [...]
At one point during the double piano set by whiz kid Francesco Tristano and veteran Bruce Brubaker - two artists steeped in the 20th-century piano tradition- I jotted down in my notes: "I'm just not sure what the point is supposed to be." Maybe that was the point. Avant-garde artists frequently set out to mystify their audiences, appealing to an elite and eccentric few, while shock and confusion were stalwart aesthetic values of the Fluxus movement and other happenings going on in this city during the 1960s and 70s. Make no mistake- Tristano and Brubaker are consummate [...]

Francesco Tristano Schlimé ,the world renowned Luxembourg born pianist, and Carl Craig , the Detroit native Techno Producer, have collaborated on an amazing piece. Parts of this remind me of a Miguel Atwood-Ferguson ensemble. All I can say is wow. You definitely need to watch the video to get the entire mood of this wonderful piece.... Enjoy! Maybe we are not as prolific as Bradford Cox but we're back again with your usual Friday treat. It's a nice blend of indie-pop, electronic, fresh R&B, folk, ambient, there's even some slinky harmonic soul on there and it all ends in one of 20102s best electro-pop songs. Providing the soundtrack we have Summer Fiction , Atlas Sound , Soulja Boy , Ricky Eat Acid , James Vincent McMorrow , Minks , Dog Bite , Samsun, Chalices of the Past , Steve Mason , Levek , Gala [...]

What an extraordinarily heavyweight lineup for an event, and what a place to hold it. The choice of the Royal Festival Hall for this Red Bull Music Academy show seemed to be an overt indication that this was not to be your typical dance music event. In fact quite often this couldn't even be described [...]

Hey all.. So, here at technocolorkids, whether you may believe it or not, we like a little balance in our lives once in a while. That is why we will be introducing the first Sunday of our weekly series called Sunday Smoothies . What we'll be doin is this = hooking you all up with some amazing tunes to sit-down and relax to for a few minutes after the insane weekend bangers we get down on pretty much all week... So instead of posting our usual tracks that entail 'having a raging party in your ears', [...]
Tracklisting VERSUS: [...]

Apparat - Things To Be Fricked Apparat is a German electro producer and owner of the brilliantly named record label Shitkatapult . We like him already. Apparat first came to my attention when he collaborated with Ellen Allien on the highly acclaimed ' Orchestra of Bubbles' and various remixes I've come accross. 'Things To Be Fricked' is a 2 disc release. The first disc is remixes he's done, the second is his material remixed. There is an obvious connection [...]

Saw the Mystery Jets play a free gig at Exeter Uni yesterday - and I'm really liking their new stuff. Twenty One is released "very soon indeed" and they've taken a great direction with it. Their new stuff uses all the talents of the band - Blaine's haunting voice (flecked with a hint of vibrato, reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, though he still very much has his own unique style) on Flakes, William's voice and songwriting talents on Young Love, the counter edge that Kai's voice brings and some beautiful bass riffs, especially on 'Half in Love with Elizabeth'. [...]
