Audioley , the dynamic pairing of Francois Peglau and Jules Drade , release their second single together, "Always." It's a nice contrast with Peglau as the lo-fi pop crooner, while Drade sings over an electronic, trip hop groove. It's like a fleeting reverie on warm afternoon. So cue it up, grab your favorite beverage, plunk your carcass in a chair, and enjoy! " Always " [...]

MOKB's fave Peruvian expat is back, and he's brought a friend. Francois Peglau has teamed with Jules Drade to form Audioley , an exiled Peruvian groove machine designed to celebrate Left wing ideals and general sexiness. The London-based duo's lead single, Same Old , is a smiler to be sure, and the vintage sexploitation video has all the subtlety and refinement of a classic Benny Hill sketch. in other words, just what we've come to expect from Peglau. And if [...]

Audioley is a new music project from Francois Peglau and Jules Drade who are both based out London. The playful electronic sound is a break for each musician. In the past, we've featured and are unabashed fans of Peglau's lo-fi power pop/jangle pop stylings. While Drade has ventured between singer/songwriter and modern rock music . The pair have released a first single "Same Old" with video. The video is a sort of an homage to Argentinean sex exploitation films. It's actually pretty [...]

You don't have to be a far-left ideologue or an admitted conspiracy nut to acknowledge a few things: the September 2008 banking freeze has caused the worst global economic downturn in our lifetimes. Some federal oversight over the complex, often deranged financial derivatives really would have softened our landing. And never again should we have to utter the words "too big to fail." Ah yes, one more: those 2008 bonuses - paid demonstrably with TARP funds - were a complete outrage. We've already outed ourselves as financial agnostics , but even so, we [...]

Francois Peglau is back with another single, and he's in groovy form. Heavily electronic, it's a nice change of pace from his neo-602s jangle pop. Inspired, or maybe better stated, confronted with the reality of the world economy, Peglau penned, "Goldman Sachs Rules the World." An interview with market trader Alessio Rastani provides the song's title. In that interview, he dismisses the power of government to make changes, and tells the host, "Goldman Sachs Rules the World." The interview is eye opening, and blunt about how this is an opportunity for those who know how to take [...]
Socio Peruvian pop musician Francois Peglau has gone all political (surprise, surprise) and has published a brand new track called Goldman Sachs rules the world ...he's gone a little electronic as well and has invented (?) the genre Electronic Peruvian Folk . Don't think I've listened to every track recorded by Mr. Peglau , but of the ones have, this has to be his best one yet; both musically and lyrically! + [...]
It's rare opportunity to see an album put together while we watch, live, in real time. But Francois Peglau's Random Singles seems to be exactly that. For now a Bandcamp-only collection, Random Singles features the Ipanema cocktails "Terminal" and "La fiesta terminó" (from December 2010) and the electronic near-lament "Holidays" (June 2011). Our favorite of these is the reggae update "Dubai" (March 2011), or at least that track was our favorite, before today. Now Peglau writes in about "Lonesome Cafe," which he describes as "a sort of homage to 70s cowboy [...]

In this edition: An artist feature and review of Gotye's Making Mirrors , Francois Peglau cowboys up, and our weekly considerations and videos... Artist Feature: Gotye Australian artist, Gotye (aka Wally De Backer), appeared on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic this week. It's a set well worth watching if you have a time. Live, De Backer and his band do an excellent job playing material that is high on the studio production factor. He brought [...]

In this edition: Francois Peglau's Holidays, discover League, meet Christine Leakey, weekly considerations, and VIDEOS! Francois Peglau - "Holidays" We're excited to share Francois Peglau's latest single, Holidays (aka Holidayzzz). Its dreamy, carefree composition contrasts with its themes of restlessness and respite. Look for a new LP from Peglau some time in 2012. Watch the video for Holidays in Videos, videos, videos (last section of post, below). [...]

For some reason, I'm starting to think of Peruvian-born Francois Peglau as a sort of crazy, black sheep uncle. Kind of an embarrassment to the rest of the family, he disappears for months at a time , only to resurface unexpectedly with a new "get rich quick" scheme, or in Peglau's case, a guerrilla music video. This time, it's Terminal , a lovely bolero with a low-key, hangovery video. Has Uncle Francois gone all gooey soft on us?

The Imminent Failure of Francois Peglau was one of my top 20 albums of 2010 . It's full of wonderful lo-fi, jangle pop that's sometimes tongue in cheek and always enjoyable. Peglau is a Peruvian expatriate living in the UK, who draws inspiration from sixties pop music and psychedelia, while simultaneously infusing his modern sensibilities and humor all over it. If you follow Peglau's tweets or pay attention to anything he does on the interwebs, you know this guy has fun. He sent along his latest video and it, too, is a [...]

It's a little difficult to pinpoint the origins of Francois Peglau's music. It's pop, but from a cultural standpoint there are a number of influences. The most noticeable being French, you can also hear a little of Peglau's South American heritage in his music. There's also a strong hint of his current British home (perhaps inject a light Beatles reference). Either way, one listen to any of his songs on The Imminent Failure of Francois Peglau and it will become apparent that he is a bit of [...]

I haven't really come across anything new and inspiring to post today so I'm going to fall back on a song that's a couple years old that I recently came across and have been playing interspersed in a Mumford and Sons-dominated playlist. While I'm getting excited to for the Mumford and Sons concert, I didn't want to post another one of their songs so I chose this one. Francois Peglau is originally from Peru but has moved to London. I believe Spring Lovers Song (Si Tú Quieres) is from shortly after the London relocation. It's simple [...]
Love this video of We We Won't Make It by Peruvian Francois Peglau, who mixes old era sunshine pop with some modern indie high lights. I just gave the album a spin and we get a lot of fun lo-fi pop that makes you want to make fun homemade music videos. Twee boogie indeed. I really dig the track Spring Lovers Song (si tu quieres). Check out more of their videos, each track on the album features an accompanying video – directed, filmed and edited by his Francois' wife! Hefty. Pick up and buy/stream his album The Imminent [...]
In the last year, Peruvian singer-songwriter Francois Peglau has acquired a great amount of international attention, enough to signal him as Peru's most lauded export. Almost every publication out there claims he makes lo-fi indie music, but actually, all of his songs are like quirky slim boleros (at least like those documented on 80's Television). Peglau's methods of composition might not be the most intricate, but they're sharp enough to tell a story. As seen on his new clip "We Know We Won't Make It" (from his album The Imminent Failure of Francois Peglau ), Francois has the [...]

Disfruta.
