Cascade Kisses By Francois Virot Album: Yes or No Label: Frenetic Records Genre: strummin and singin Tags: acoustic, indie, strummin Download : MP3 Audio A kid from Lyon with a guitar and noises that come out of his mouth. If you like it see him play in your town .

Francois Virot is a rare bird, who belongs to that endangered kind of musicians that are so devoted to their art that they never care to spend some time at home. So you can tell, Yes Or No may be his first official album alright, that kid is no newcomer. In a nutshell, then: it's the record of a sage, recorded by a kid. Achieved with no superfluous addition of anything: one guitar, sometimes two, one voice, sometimes two, or three, plus an acoustic rain of hands on wood, bits and [...]
By a weird quirk of fate here is the second artist from Lyon to appear on mp3hugger in as many days. Is there some sort of Bergen renaissance going on there or something? Like My Raining Stars, François Virot is entirely cherishable, coming from that townland in the land of twee that doesn't grate but merely inhabits the memory making parts of your consciousness. His album of last year 'Yes or

Οι λόγοι είναι προφανείς, αρκεί να το ακούσετε. Francois Virot Yes or No (09.2008, Frenetic) Verdict = Sung Tongs-lite with added accessibility What to say about Francois Virot? Um, he's French…er, he plays guitar and, uh, sheesh, you know what? I really don't know a whole lot about Mr. Virot. From what I understand he also plays drums in some band or something, but really I don't know. However, something I have come to find out is that his debut album, Yes or No , is awesome. What I know about you is that you'd like it if you heard it. Ok, I don't know [...]

As excited as I am to bust out my near-expert turkey skillz this week, I kinda hate late November. Around this time of year I suffer from unrelenting twinges of anxiety every time I listen to part of a new album, because great is my worry about excluding a late-year release for consideration as one of my favorites of the year. What if I just don't know it yet, and mistake that for not loving it? Will I adore it come February? What kind of a huckster am I ?! I'm reprising my talking [...]

François Virot used to play drums in a rather loud band called Clara Clara . For his first solo outing called Yes Or No he has donned a poppy freak folk costume with a barebones backing. Being French his English lyrics are not that good, but his uneven acoustic guitar fingerings (sometimes played over handclaps) will go down well with Robyn Hitchcock afficionados and Syd Barrett freaks. Yes Or No is released on Frenetic Records . Tracks: [...]

While I tend to be partial to anything French, I promise you that I am being as unbiased as possible when I tell you to watch out for Francois Virot . This quirky character from Lyon, France has been making music since the not-so-tender age of seven and has recorded a reported 17,839 demo cds since then. That part sounds made up, so emphasis on the 'reported'. If it's true, I'd like to find out where these demos are... and who was in charge of keeping count. Virot's first solo album , Yes or [...]

Added: Wed, 30 Jul 2008 00:00:00 -0700 Description: One of the first recordings done for IYMI, Francois returns to the US to tour with Ramona Cordova. Between van troubles and sickness, I was happy to have him over before his flight home. Francois also drums for the French band Clara Clara.
Pwrfl Power Francois Virot Ramona Cardova Ok….I waited two years to see Ramona Cordova . Unfortunately it was miss not hit. I've only heard raves so this was an off night, due mainly to touring tragedies and mishaps. The mood didn't strike him, as the audience tried to show him love. He just wasn't feeling it. I guess it is hard playing in the dark and being exhausted. Bad shit happens to musicians on the road. His truck broke [...]

Francois Virot has a new record that just came out on Frenetic Records on June 16. This psychedelic freak folk singer is probably an odd choice to follow yesterdays post on the band Embarrassed Fruits, but if you're open minded and like weirdo rock like Animal collective, early Robyn Hitchcock and even something like Herman Dune you should fare OK. "Say Fiesta" has moments that share a lineage with the artists mentioned above but it also clearly channels David Bowie and Captain Beefheart. This is probably only the third time I've mentioned a French [...]
So, as this is our first post I guess we should introduce ourselves - we're a record label of no repute based in London, England. We've been a record label since May 2006, before that we've been involved in club nights (in the Southend 'scene'. Whatever that was), managed bands (some successful, some not so), DJ'd all over the shop (Berlin gay clubs being a favourite), worked at a better record label and so on. We've released a few things so far, mainly on vinyl. We like vinyl better than cds and downloads. [...]
