Craig Kief Spring is only barely here - the past few days' weather notwithstanding - but the concert announcement machine is already making eyes at Autumn with the unveiling of a couple of pretty high profile tours coming through town when the leaves start to change and the days get shorter. Sam Beam, the walking epitome of bearded folk music, released Ghost On Ghost - his fifth album as Iron & Wine - last month, but until now only had Spring dates in the northeast and Europe confirmed [...]
Time was, leading a Dublin crowd in a cheery sing-a-long of “There is no God” would have resulted in widespread condemnation and public order offences, but these are different days. These are shanty songs for disaffected children of all ages and Frank Turner , at long last, knows his audience like the back of his hand. Though he takes the time to note, in that only-half-joking way of his, that people have been offering hearty congratulations in the direction of ‘debut’ album Tape Deck Heart (his fifth), Turner is very much preaching to the converted [...]

Paulo Goncalves joins the punk rocker in Dublin.
© Kiera Kalleberg Larry And His Flask are the latest American band to head out on tour with Frank Turner. Having been able to introduce fans to fantastic bands from across the pond before, I'm pretty confident that the UK and Europe will see a whole lot more of the alt-country band in the future. The same can be said for, drummer and vocalist, Jamin Marshall. We chatted about what this tour might mean for L&HF ahead of the first night of the 'Tape Deck Heart' tour in Manchester and discussed how Europe reacts [...]
Frank Turner's dug himself into a right hole with his latest video (sorry!). No, seriously, the hardest working man in music shows off that he might be able to pull of a 'real' day of grafting in the video for, new single, 'The Way I Tend To Be'. Why he's digging a bloody massive hole is anyone's guess - if anyone knows will you tell the fake newsreader? - maybe it's a metaphor for...something. Who knows? Either way, check it out below and maybe leave us your theory in the comments. 'The Way I Tend [...]

NOFX , Frank Turner , The Saw Doctors , Pilfers , Young Dubliners , Bigger Thomas have put signed prints of band member's photographs up for auction on eBay, in an effort to support Hurricane Sandy and Boston Marathon victims. Proceeds are to be donated to NJ's Hometown Heroes and the Dropkick Murphy 's Claddagh Fund . You can find the prints here.
This is a fucking good album. It's beautiful in the way a smashed mirror is beautiful - all sharp edges and flashes of light; beautiful not in spite of being broken, but precisely because of the damage. By Hannah Morgan
We all know that Frank Turner is now just some big shot pop star who, at the time of writing, has an album at #2 in the UK charts. I kid, of course. Frank is one of the most genuine people in music today and, as has become de rigeur, I sat down with him to talk about Groezrock Festival, the honesty and mythology put into 'Tape Deck Heart', what's happening with Mongol Horde and how he feels about up and coming musicians.

Frank Turner 'Tape Deck Heart' (Xtra Mile Recordings) He is not a Tory. He is not a BNP apologist. And he is not a whore who sold his soul to Wembley Arena and scattered the blood-soaked internal remains to anyone who bought Million Dead's debut album on release day. Alright, fine… you can have the last one. But on 'Tape Deck Heart' (scuse the shocking title), Frank Turner's fifth solo album, the smiley 'lil folk-punkster is about as straight to the point as it gets; heartbroken, angry and, if his promo campaign goes as [...]
Frank Turner (live at The Roxy, Los Angeles) © 2013 Tiffiny Kallina As his friends in The Gaslight Anthem had done just a few weeks earlier, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls decided a more intimate show was necessary for the first date of the ‘Tape Deck Heart’ tour. After George Frakes set the night off, it was Larry & His Flask who really impressed me. Though I hadn’t seen them live before, their high energy, country-meets-punk, jams made them the perfect opening band. Kicking off with ‘Land Of The Free’, the [...]

Folk-punk hero Frank Turner has worked his arse off to get to where he is now. With his no-bullshit attitude, patriotism and concise lyrics, Frank Turner has become an iconic singer/songwriter, last year selling out Wembley Arena and even appearing in the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympic Games. Tonight we're at The Forum in Kentish Town, London, three days after the release of his fifth studio album, Tape Deck Heart . There's no such thing as a bad Frank Turner show, and tonight [...]
Already confirmed for a number of great UK festivals this Summer including slots at Glastonbury, Dot to Dot and Blissfields Festival. The self confessed 'Drunk Folk Singer' Beans on Toast is now also set to tour with Frank Turner throughout the US this June. After releasing his highly acclaimed fourth studio album Fishing For A Thank You at the end of last year. We are told to expect 'laughs, tears and plenty of melodic banter' throughout this Summer and we can not wait for the release of his new single Beer [...]
Frank Turner is live streaming his performance at The Forum in London momentarily. The show begins at 9:15 BST, so about five minutes from now. The show is to celebrate the release of his new full length, Tape Deck Heart , which is out now.

Frank Turner's “Tape Deck Hearts” is an album full of sing along anthems, give it a listen and lose your voice.
As is the case with every festival, the opening spot on a stage is hard for any act and this year Groez goers are pretty spoilt for choice when it comes to the early birds. Getting in the arena early on can prove to be a great idea as yours truly found out after wandering in on, omnipresent punk hero, Mikey Erg's set early on last year. So, without further ado, here's who you should be seeing if you're an early riser at Groezock 2013. [...]
On his way up from Lexapalooza, Mark McBabe McCabe undertook a mini-tour of sorts. Having stopped in Manchester I coaxed the singer/songwriter into playing a couple of new tunes for Loitering With Intent; including one song so new that it doesn't even have a name. Both 'That Time I Almost Killed Martin' and 'Untitled' are set to appear on Mark's forthcoming second album but, if you like what you hear, you should head over to his Bandcamp page where he has a couple of things for you to drop some cash on. [...]
