Frantic Clam is an Austin band that won us over in 2009 with their stellar EP Anatomica. Now after many lineup changes and some hardcore Austin live dates, the guys are back with new single "Sasha Grey". This catchy little number is meant as a preview for Frantic Clam's upcoming debut LP entitled Lolita due out in spring 2010. Wondering who Sasha Grey is? Try searching her name online . Just be careful if you work with young children or have a jealous wife... Download: Frantic Clam - Sasha Grey [MP3]
Sunday, November 22, 2009 Having cooked a pre-Thanksgiving turkey on Friday, I can assure you that this Thanksgiving will be as filling as last. And regardless of whether or not you subscribe to the myth that turkey makes you tired, I can also assure you that consuming 8 pounds of poultry in 20 minutes will have you pinned to the couch for a least a few hours. Thus it seems prudent that we cover some new music to cue up while your GI tract is working overtime this Thursday. [...]

Sunday, January 18, 2009 Well, Hello 2009! Today marks the end of my winter hibernation and it couldn't come soon enough - things were starting to get a little backed up, as it were. I listened to a lot of music over the break, and my stack of yet-to-be-reviewed CD's grew to new heights, so I'm excited to share some of it with you, but more importantly, to finally have some room on my desk again. Let's start the Spring cleaning! Leatherbag - Tomorrow [...]

Dead Confederate just announced a new tour that will tackle both U.S. coasts, and swing through Austin for a SXSW performance or two. We were lucky enough to host them at our blogger party last year, the day after they opened for REM, and they blew the roof off the place. Above, check out some live footage from their KEXP studio performance, and hit up WOXY for another live show. The tour dates are posted at myspace , and the little tune below is one of the many good parts of [...]
Sunday, October 26, 2008 Fall has never been a fruitful season for me - I always find myself trudging through a semester of school back from summer, or sitting on the patio enjoying a cool breeze and the taste of the Rockies. This autumn ethos, however, is not mutually felt by almost the entire Austin music scene, which has been churning out albums like nobody's business the past few weeks. This week, I'm taking a look at three recently released or upcoming albums that deserve more than a little attention. Let's [...]
