Danny Taylor from Oakzine. Photo by Therese and Joel Following up on our gargantuan 2010 interview with Zaza , the Panic Manual recently (virtually) sat down with lead singer Danny Taylor to discuss their new release, Sacred Geometry . PM : Your first EP, Cameo, was released back in 2008. In those three years, you've toured with Pains of Being Pure at Heart , Black Rebel Motorcycle Club , and building your own fanbase through solo shows. Did you feel touring helped [...]

When it comes to the actual concept of songwriting, laid back indie-folk quartet Fraser vividly display a uplifting range of mood, style and emotion throughout the entirety of their eagerly awaited debut album, 'A Garden At The Top Of The Tree' , which is released via Moody Noodle Records. 'Listener friendly' may be a cliché way of describing the homegrown songs by Fraser Gregory, folk-pop singer of London band Fraser . But it's also one that certainly works. As a self-professed ponderer I think a lot of the themes are quite personal. The single, for example, talks about the need to be straight up in relationships, the times when you have to put your cards on the table and be upfront about things, even if it means losing the thing you love. Gregory admits that a majority of the songs written [...]

Fraser , out with a very strong self released debut album earlier this year, sent me an inspiring list of what he has been listening to, during this year. It's always very exciting to receive these guestlistings for me, most of the music he mentions i havent had the priviledge to listen to, and i am looking forward to check it out. Thank you Fraser! And so it goes; the crop of rural Canadian music continues (for me at least.) Like Prince and Madonna, Fraser rocks the one-name moniker. Household name much? Fraser: the next Cher. Okay sorry, sorry, I've had enough fun, at this point I'm just doing Fraser's music a disservice. Indulge me though, I'm working with this literary device where I discuss music so dissimilar to what I'm about to describe that it makes my upcoming profile that much more unique. Bonus points for anyone who knows what that's called. (Because, um, ....I forget. Is there even such a thing?) [...]

There is something uniquely seductive about retreating to the country with a guitar, ample helpings of sadness, and an active imagination: the artist removed from society, on the outside looking in. Fraser Teeple has done just that on his debut album, with the poetic yet familiar narrative of a rural Canadian lifestyle. Growing up in agricultural Ontario, Fraser spent summers cutting down trees and winters studying English Lit in the city, details that help to explain the introverted quality of his songs. Fraser has spent the last few years honing his craft at pubs, bars and cafes [...]

Fraser - House on a Hill myspace || buy CD This Ontario singer probably hates the reading snippets written about his work. I mean, most are complimentary – and deservedly so – but the ease at which his songs force you to think about other artists must start to grate on the young man. I usually try to avoid the "sounds-like" trap, but on House on the Hill there are terrific subdued moments that help Fraser sound like Teitur (the opening number Dusklight and [...]

Elliot, Ryan, Sufjan, Rufus. Fraser. Singer/songwriters we like a lot. And now, Fraser. I don't know anything about fraser, more than that he's from London, Ontario Canada, and that "house on a hill" is his second album (The January Project came 2006). Fraser and his wife just came back from a backpacker tour here in europe (20 gigs in England, France and Switzerland), earlier this spring, and the cd is spreading "ear by ear", wildly. What is this now, and how should i be able to categorize it? [...]

To my delight, another Canuck has impressed me with his fouray into the making of great music. The kind of music that despite being part of the same album, has the ability to range from full on folk to indie rock ballad. This album was such a nice surprise that I find myself immediately putting something online - I just received the album 2 days ago in the mail at Slowcoustic HQ. The 10 track collage that is "House on a Hill" is not unlike the photo above. The album could be placed in almost any hillside field, [...]

Who : Fraser from London, Ontario. What : A beautiful folk song for you to close your eyes to. Growing up in farmland near London, Ontario, Fraser spent summers cutting trees, while winters were spent in the city at school. Autumn of '08 brought us his 2nd effort ' House On The Hill ', recorded at The Music Room, songs stretching from dusty folk to laid-back Americana rock. One foot in the field, the other on the sidewalk. Nice stuff, take a listen, more at his myspace [...]
