Mac Miller once again showcases his jaw-dropping, who would have thunk it, improved rapping. He once again rhymes circles around my previous, premature assumption that he lacked the talent to create the kind of music that i would indulge in. Even though he recycled rhymes from the album that we weren't suppose to hear until June 18th, i still think it's a must listen for the ones that haven't peeped the leaked. Pretty old news by now seeing as it was first uploaded well over a year ago but this track/video/rap/monologue by Kool A.D. (formerly of Das Racist fame) deserves some serious appreciation. Unbelievably it currently has just 42,000 views on Youtube meaning that most Kool A.D. and Das Racist fans haven't even heard it yet. Why have I waited till now to post it? Well like lots of other Kool A.D. fans, I was quite dismayed that this nigh-on 10 minute freestyle wasn't included in either the 51, 63 or 19 mixtapes nor released as a stand alone track. [...]

Recently, Chicago superhero Chance the Rapper appeared on Showoff Radio with Statik Selektah to show off some freestyle skills. With him were Cory Mo and hip hop legend Talib Kweli. Each rapper cyphered over the "1 Track" beat by ASAP Rocky. Talib had the longest verse, but Chance definitely showed some good chops, too. Check out the video below. [via Al Lindstrom ]
![Mixtape: Philly Gems [Hip-Hop]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4945108_lg.jpg)
Growing up in Philadelphia spoiled me with rap. Hip-Hop is such a competitive industry and supremely versatile. The current, friendly, mainstream hip-hop scene is lame and produces too much lackluster stuff which would never fly in my hometown. "Local" mediocrity doesn't apply to Philly's lyricism. In fact, many new trends and sounds were played out in Illy Philly quite a while ago; the city is often ahead of its time. This tape is comprised of 8 gems from 8 different camps with 8 different styles. Notice many "notable" names are not included. This is the underground stuff, the [...]
