Fresh Espresso ::: Photo by Abbey Simmons We spent last Saturday in Ballard being spoiled by the vastness of the Seattle music scene. We saw a number of new bands and rappers, checked in with some old favorites, and sadly learned news that we hoped were just rumors. We're going to do this Spin Magazine online festival coverage style... basically some [...]

Fresh Espresso ::: photo by Josh Lovseth Courtesy of the Seattle Weekly and REVERBFEST happening this Saturday, the all-ages stage situated at the New York Fashion Academy on Ballard Avenue might be the most exciting single day of local hip hop on a single stage this city has seen all year. Curiously, that same day the [...]

The 2009 REVERBfest will take over Ballard on Sat Oct 3rd, filling 10 neighborhood venues (including 4 all-ages) many of which, like The Sunset and Hattie's Hat, are Ballard institutions while others, like the Salmon Bay Eagles Club and New York Fashion Academy are transforming themselves just for the event. The nice thing is that all of the venues are in the heart of old Ballard which makes it simple to hop from place to place and catch all your favorites. . Now, I know it's a pretty big claim, but I [...]

We arrived at the Seattle Center's Mural Amphitheatre on Friday in plenty of time for Fresh Espresso 's scheduled 6 pm set. Turned out we didn't have to compete with anybody for choice lawn spots other than KEXP hardcores, a handful of unsuspecting families, and an allotment of scraggly army-green Center dwellers. To be clear: the crowd was not blown up. No matter, as I've broadcast recently , Glamour is in heavy rotation. . P Smoov was in all black, in [...]

I guess it's been a hip-hop kind of week - today I've got Seattle's Fresh Espresso for your listening pleasure. Need a little energy for Friday afternoon? Throw this track on. Fresh Espresso - Diamond Pistols Fresh Espresso on MySpace

I'm not exactly breaking any news here, so chances are you fly honeys have heard and read all about this record on those other, more popular blogs. In any event, I'll take the afforded opportunity to add my two cents. The first proper collaboration between MC Rik Rude and producer/MC P Smoov - "debut" just doesn't seem fitting-the 14-track multifarious record signals a new [...]
Fresh Espresso ::: Photo by Josh Lovseth Fresh Espresso represents the next wave of Seattle hip-hop, who seem to be concerned with partying, living the good life, and having a good time as a full time occupation. Their debut LP Glamour has been locally turning heads, and at an undisclosed location this weekend we were finally [...]
Mad Rad ::: photo by Abbey Simmons Considering the epic weekend of music that awaits us Seattle, I wouldn't blame you if you took off Monday and Tuesday to prepare your ear drums, liver, feet, and wallet for Capitol Hill Block Party. In fact, that's exactly what I'll be doing. But, there's no rest for the [...]
