Today I've got another perfect chill mixtape for welcoming in summer, Freshman 15 . It's by the talented kid holding down West Virginia, Huey Mack. He brought you the catchy Popular , and made the surprisingly sick take on Katy Perry's single 'Firework' . He's got that youthful college rapper sound, has some catchy songs and is on his way to becoming a really talented rapper. I've picked out a few of my favorite tracks, but the whole thing is a good chill listen all the way through, and don't judge it from the first 2 or 3. He's [...]

Wow. How is it possible that there was this much good music released in 2009? I've been frantically trying to play catch up throughout the Fall and have just been overwhelmed. Even so, this list was relatively easy to compile. It's made up of 30% what you might call punk albums, 32% what could loosely be classified as some type of Americana or alt-country, 10% are of the heavier variety, and the remaining 28% are all over the place. Additionally, the overwhelming majority of albums on my list were released by independent labels (41) but I [...]

OMGZ! For whatever reason I really love this album. I mean, like, despite my better judgment I like this a whole fucking lot! First, the album is ridiculously titled Throw Up Your Hands For One Night Stands courtesy of Atlanta, Georgia's Freshman 15. They are one of those nu-pop-punk (or just call it pop-core) bands with overly-cheesy and cliched lyrics about loving and missing girls, broken hearts, and all those things. Yes, some (if not all) of the lyrics are cringe-worthy, but these guys seem sincere and I can certainly remember being in their shoes when [...]

So this week seemed like it had millions upon millions of songs but I think for the most part that was because a bunch of mixtapes dropped. We all thought America's Suitehearts was dope enough and then Lil Wayne decided to get his own version. Asher Roth's album leaked and we all got a taste of the white boy who had a Bad Day but ended it by just doing whatever... La Di Da. We got some more young money when Busta Rhymes jumped onto my favorite Drake song. I crossed sides and got some Little Boots and [...]
![[NEW] Freshman 15- Paper Planes](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1664279_lg.jpg)
So my last post was about M.I.A. and yesterday I posted another cover of Paper Planes. I figured when I came across this version I'd put it up as well. It is amazing to hear a song in every aspect of the music world cause each one seems like it is a totally different song. Freshman 15 throws its punk spin on it and if you've never heard the M.I.A. version and even if you have, you don't even know it's the same song. I really came across this song thanks to Kyle Lucas' twitter. [...]
Freshman 15 is awaiting the release of their debut album (Throw Up Your Hands For One Night Stands) coming out February 17th. In the mean time I thought I would throw up a review for their EP, 5 Ways To Get To Third Base. Freshman 15 consists of four members who specialise in an infectious brand of powerpop. From their insatiable hunger to entertain, to their colourful t-shirts, it's apparent they are down with the scene. But more importantly they possess a high energy act that leaves little to the imagination and is constantly delivered in full force. While Freshman [...]
