Aaaah! I'm back after a nice relaxing vacation and ready to get on the horse that is gigging again! I've just moved to Berlin, Germany, and will be touring in Europe for a while now. It was an exciting time when we realised 'Darwin Deez and Friends' wasn't Darwin Deez and some of his friends, but the band Friends. After parting ways with BTW FRIENDS , that outfit's erstwhile bassist Matthew Molnar went back to roots and rekindled an older musical relationship with a couple of high school buddies who last collaborated in an adolescent hardcore punk band. The result of this new long-distance project is Pagan Rituals, something of a return to these dudes' youth of yesterday: aggressive in sound and lyrically ominous, with distortion-smeared guitars and goth lurking in the bass. The soul-influenced UK band Secret Son hit b3 square in its rock and roll sweet spot with "Friends". The genre "UK guitar music" is in a bit of a hype cycle nadir as of Feb 2013 with great upstart English bands like Secret Son all too uncommon. Secret Son's "Friends" EP is due March 25th.
