Just up is Shlohmo 's latest. While comments that I can relate to on his facebook page may question the direction of his more recent music, asking things like 'what happened to this guy?' [with a link to ' Empty Pools ' off his 2011 Places EP ], Shlohmo does and always has enjoyed chopped and screwed, R&B, and old southern shit. While many of us may have initially fallen for the fragile musicality of his earlier material, he is doing his thing (well); so maybe you should take the advice of commenter #2 and stop being a [...]

What a pleasant hump-day surprise. I almost didn't believe it at first; you don't see a lot of OutKast remixes floating around. Hemsworth has that synth just right. I mean it's OutKast, it's hard to fxck up but the screwed up vocals sound great. Maybe the first time I've heard Andre chopped and screwed? Go ahead 'n marinate on that. Actual news on the track: this one is coming by way of a publication called Pure Baking Soda . They're releasing a new series aimed at getting the reader the information he or she didn't [...]

Evenings is the newest signee to our good friends, Friends of Friends. The Yore LP is actually a remastering of two previous Evenings EP's. I'm new to most all of these sounds; I just caught wind of Evenings through a compilation released earlier this year and then the mix that he did for The Fader. Cuts like Softly We Go, click right away, I remember this one from the mix. In terms of an LP it contains a really solid kind of interlude cool-down from side A, transitioning to the b sides. Then it [...]

Shlohmo and Jeremih teamed up to bring you a super sexy track courtsey of Yours Truly . The pair first crossed paths sonically last year when Shlohmo remixed Jeremih's Fuck U All The Time track from his Late Night mixtape. Jeremih may be most know for his Bithday Sex single back in 09 but has been exploring different sounds as of late which brought about theLate Nigh t mixtape. Shlohmo still feeling the creative juices flowing after releasing his Laid Out E.P . was just the right person for Jeremih [...]
In the summer of 2011, during a particularly high water time for beat-noodling on Bandcamp, Palmrya, Virginia-based producer Evenings self-released Lately, his fantastic and down-to-earth debut LP. Snare hits fall like fat raindrops and beats ... read more

Big moves from bass music artists this week! "Bo Peep (Do U Right)" is the first official collaboration between Shlohmo and Def Jam recording artist Jeremih (you may have heard of " Birthday Sex ") and the latest in Yours Truly and Adidas Originals "Songs from Scratch" series. Sholohmo has remixed Jeremih before with the F**k You All the Time remix (which you can hear below), and it is currently near 700,000 listens. This time it's official. And it's amazing. Once in awhile, you just need to sit back, get right, and let a sultry track [...]

Post his immaculate remix of 'Fuck U All The Time' (one of my top tunes of fall 2012) the official collaboration between Shlohomo and Jeremih has been one of those things you long for so bad it's almost hurts. At least I have and here it finally is and well, I'm sorry but it's on the level as that good, (yes, here I go again, another analogy to either sex or food, as they are my only ones suitable when it comes to real good music) when you reach climax with someone you actually care about and after eat something [...]

Chris Daly doesn't need any more baby-making music, but he will gladly accept it. Ghost in the Machine generally refers to one of a few things. The more scholastic might read it as British philosopher Gilbert Ryle's refutation of René Descartes' mind-body dualism. The Sting-inclined might process it as the Police's fourth album that offered up "Invisible Girl." But on Laid Out , Shlohmo, the avatar of L.A.'s WeDidIt Collective, throws an entirely new definition into the mix - capturing the voices and spirits of haunted machinery and the the [...]

LA producer Shlohmo (aka Henry Laufer, he of Wedidit and Friend of Friends fame) is tough to categorize. In fact, "eclectic" is an understatement: in his live sets and prerecorded mixes, genres ranging from electronic music to film scores to indie rock to r'n'b to eight different kinds of rap to TV theme songs get matched interchangeably. Shlohmo's work is something you can really only imagine existing in the world of the internet, where everyone curates their own personal universe of influences and obsessions. This is annoying in, say, your brony-and-football-and- Star-Trek obsessed roommate, but at the end of [...]

To celebrate the release of his massive Laid Out EP , and the fact that he's playing our SXSW party next week (and the epic Shlohmo shake , of course), we're excited to hand over the keys to LA producer SHLOHMO for the day. You can stay up on all of his posts HERE . To get things started, here's a preview of Shlohmo's amazing new " Songs From Scratch " collab with Jeremih and yourstru.ly , and his [...]

Any trap fan looking to go deeper into the realm of post-dubstep and future bass will find that Salva is capable of diving down to the sea floor of these genres. Bubbles and bass ooze from one track to the next, each with its own unique approach to contemporary EDM. His latest EP, Odd Furniture , is a collection of five cutting-edge tracks capable of bringing an entire dancefloor to the ground. Salva shows the world what trap is all about with Drop That B . There's not much to say except that this [...]
Shlohmo drops yet another track from his forthcoming Laid Out EP, which is dropping in March. This particular cut features vocal contributions from alternative R&B pioneer How To Dress Well. It's a really spacey, detailed track. Not only is there some trap influence coming from the hi-hats, but there's some particularly emotive vocal work toward the end of the track. Who knew these guys could work so well together?

If you haven't noticed, we're rather excited about Shlohmo's upcoming Laid Out EP and are sometimes prone to gushing about Mr. Laufer's subtle arrangements. The latest tune to emerge from the upcoming extended player comes in the form of "Don't Say No", a How To Dress Well assisted slow jam that sees Shlohmo working with a notable vocalist for the first time (?). Like "Later", the first cut we heard from Laid Out , HTDW's vocals are often abstracted into a melodic tool, but unlike "Later", they return to the mix in all their full-throated glory in an attempt to [...]

Enigmatic Virginia émigré Nathan, aka Evenings ticks plenty of the correct electronica boxes in that production-wise he's proficient to say the least; his is a keen lughole for luscious melodies which squiggle down into your psyche like restive earworms; and the results are polished, though never quite pristine. There's a haze enveloping Friend [Lover] – that same one seen through the patina of blear to coat the eye in the undesired early morning awakening after the late one before – and its title therefore feels strangely apt, for the song itself succinctly encapsulates those feelings of bewilderment when [...]

On April 16, Friends of Friends' latest signee, Evenings, will release his debut LP Yore , which will consist of remastered versions of the Virginia-native's earlier self-releases. "Friend (Lover)" is the first taste from the EP and features many of the familiar characteristics we've come to know and love from FoF release. The claps/organic percussion, melancholic vibe and codeine-drenched vocal work all sound innately familiar, but that's the beauty of Evenings: His music is dissociative in its sense of comfort. Like most of Kid Smpl's work (who also featured on FoF's Show Me The Future compilation), Evenings' music is best suited for headphone [...]
